FujimiLover Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 pay attention bro, we got rid of that rule togehter with the old management the whole point is to build a drift car your way, it doenst mather that it has never been done before im looking forward to seeing the enzo done up its gonna be interesting Cool, so ANYTHING goes as long as it's capable of drifting! Awesome! Makes thing's more fun when there are LESS rules to go by!
vizio93 Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 pay attention bro, we got rid of that rule togehter with the old management ohh , but that vid is still pretty cool.
RodneyBad Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 Not a whole lot of Progress. This will be mainly 2 tone Red/ white with black trim. Stock Side Nascar rollcage with new cross bracing and rear strut tower brace. Seats will be black and red Decided to go with the US dash.
LVZ2881 Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Made some progress on the drift 'stang over the last few days... got the motor closer to being done, just need some vacuum lines and paint touch up's.. got a start on my roll bar, took some 1/8" tubing, and heated it with a BBQ lighter and bent to shape. Its the first time I have ever gone this far with scratchbuilding, and I am having ALOt of fun with it. fabbed a heater/radio delete plate from .010 styrene sheet.. I want the car to look stripped down for racing, so to make it look like there is no carpet in the car, I added some .010 strips to the floor to look like the pattern in a bare floorpan. it'll blend in better with some primer and paint. a look at my rollcage in the car. I have some sport buckets coming from Brendan, so when those get here, I'll be able to finish the cage and rear seat delete.
diymirage Posted May 18, 2009 Author Posted May 18, 2009 nice progress james if the interior comes out anything like the engine that will be an awesome car are you going to ad gauges to the HVAC/radio delete plate ? (i just might steal that idea)
Len Geisler Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Just a quick update till I can get some pics taken, whcih should be tonite, I hope....LOL.... Got the roll cage made, started some mild body mods and think I may even have decided on a paint job and sponsor for this bad boy. I made up a couple plates for it too, nit sure which one I will use yet..... or if I stay "home"....
David Thibodeau Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Good work so far guys.... I thought I would get in on this one too.... This is one I have had in progress for a few years and this thread is a good excuse to get back on it... This is a S-15 Silvia that competed in the D1 Drift series.... The real car It is an aoshima kit that has all the nice body mods but needs help in the interior dept since Aoshima left it as a stock S-15 interior. Here is the body MOCK pics... as you can see I the real deal has chrome mylar graphics. The kit decals are a dull silver. Even though I could not add all the foil decals I decided to replace the tear offs with real BMF and clear yellow paint. The green on the car is Tamiya park green shot directly over the plastic and buffed out. I hope this car qualifies...
FujimiLover Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 WOW! Awesome work on the body and an interesting use of BMF! I had thought about covering my 1/43 Honda Insight body in BMF aluminum since the real car has an aluminum body. I always thought it would be interesting to strip the paint off my Insight and just polish the bare aluminum and clear coat it. Anyway, love the body and it definetly qualifies in my opinion! But how did you get the gold finish on the wheels?
FujimiLover Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 I'm wondering why Aoshima did that when the real car has gray wheels?
David Thibodeau Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Because the car ran gold wheels too.... Thanks....
FujimiLover Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Because the car ran gold wheels too.... Thanks.... Oh cool! I didn't know that as I was just going by the picture provided. The gold look's great with that green!

FujimiLover Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Got my Smart Car and Honda motorcycle in the mail today! The motorcycle engine is not quite what I had in mind, so this may wind up being a curbside model. However, I think with a carbon-fiber clad body, some sponsorship decals, and maybe some wheels, it'll have the same effect. I might scratch-build the muffler and exaust to give it the proper appearance. We'll see!

We'll see! yeah, you are gonna need some wheels for sure , otherwise it wouldnt roll here is my car, i did some work on the body, got most of the filler and smoothign out down there was one casting dip that i fixed, i molded the bumpers and skirts into the body scratchbuild the airscoops and.........i found a spoiler that is perfect for this build (because it is caron fiber, duh) i also layed some paint down on the inside of the car and the seats
FujimiLover Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 I'm not sure which wheels to put on it yet, but I did notice that they were kind enough to use the same axle treatment that Fujimi did so adding some wheels should be easy. I may have to do some clever fender modifications to make the custom wheels fit. The stockers are very skinny almost bicycle like! LOL!
B_rad88 Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 i love the lorinser speedy rims! they are 17in and they will look awsome on your smart! oh, wait its a smonda! but the down side is they will have to be custom made! i haven't seen any for kits yet! here is a pic of the rims:
FujimiLover Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 (edited) Those rim's are cool, but not exactly my style. Plus, I dont' think they'd go well with a carbon-clad body. The wheel well's on the Smart model are very small and I dont' know if I can stuff aftermarket wheels on it. Actually, I'm thinking of useing the wheels I had intended for the Veilside MR2. They are perfect width, and have the right sized profile-tire to suit the Smart. Tomarrow I plan on going to the LHS and picking up several sheets of SMS's CF decal for the body. The fenders do cover up most of the wheels. Edited May 19, 2009 by FujimiLover
B_rad88 Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 (edited) nice wheels, but i just noticed (sorry for being slow ) but are you de-tuning the smart? the motorcycle engine is only 500cc! the engine in the smart is 1.0l! lol, i am bored, just trying to have a little fun as i wait! oh edit: your using the old styled (1st gen.)smart! just to let you know! Edited May 19, 2009 by KUZTOMMODELS88
FujimiLover Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 (edited) LOL! I hadn't noticed that between the engines. De-tuning would certainly not allow for drifting now would it? Oops! Well, I guess I'll have to buy a Revell Honda Civic model and use it's engine in this project, or just simply make it curb-side with a custom exaust system to give it the proper look. I'm thinking of giving the body some contrast by painting most of it white, and only CF-ing the accent-body panels that being the front and rear clips, and the doors, oh and roof as well! I will see if I can get myselfe the Fujimi tuning-accessories kit for some sport seats and put some Recaro's in here, maybe a raceing steering wheel too? Since curb-side building is allowed here, maybe just give it the appearance of a drifter. Although, I'd still like to test my scratch-building lackoh'skills and it would be cool to actually have a Honda V-tech engine in here? When I start building, I'll start my own thread on the workbench so I won't clog up this thread here. Edited May 19, 2009 by FujimiLover

FujimiLover Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Thank's for the tips on the wheels. But I'm going with these ones here as they have the right profile for this car. Both their width and tire-profile are perfect. Plus I like the style! Just as you had entered your post, I already started my thread. I can post here as well if you wish.
