FujimiLover Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 I'm only going to answer with these two pictures.
David Thibodeau Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 More updates on mine: Body done, wing carboned, and headlights and tail lights in place. Aoshima did not provide a proper race stripped interior or rollcage so I did it myself by adding holes to the rear package shelf and a scratchbuilt roll cage painted silver and one coat of omni. I will add fully detailed bits next. wheel and tires gold plated in the kit.. added a little wash to tone them down a bit... you gotta love aoshima rubber! Here is quick mockups of the stance I will try to achieve..... more to come! DaveT
RodneyBad Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 More updates on mine: more to come! DaveT Dang, That looks Frinkin Sweet. I Agree, you gotta love aoshima rubber. And the Gold Plated Wheels WOW!! I thought we were doing this for fun, Not Pink Slips I'm just trying to figure the best way to mask my 2-tone paint. It's gonna looks Good tho. I hope.
Len Geisler Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Here are some buld pics of my entry.....put them in OTB, then realized we were trying to keep them all together, so here goes it..... 2004 Corvette Z06 Drifter..... Scratched up a "half cage", and robbed a seat from an old Silvia kit I had laying around for way. I am trying to keep this build on the simple side, but ruined that idea yesterday.... Here I cut out the front plate holder, to expose the "cold air intake" that I am working on. It will consist of two conical air filters that I have cast up, split and joined in the middle to make a larger unit Here is a side shot with the wing from a Polar Lights GTO kit, finding this out after purchasing an MCG resin and photo etched tuner style wing. So here is where we are at, as always, questions, comments and critiques welcome....
RodneyBad Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 It has been a long time since I actually finished painting something. It's not quite done tho. Needs some detail painting and a Clear coat. It aint Perfect but it is the Rising Sun and the rays don't need to be Perfect. I do see another way I should have done it now. But since I couldn't paint White over Red. I had to Reverse Mask it. But what the Frell.. It's painted
Foxer Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 Excellent paint idea ..the Rising Sun!!!! Very effective and must have been a bear to mask.
diymirage Posted May 22, 2009 Author Posted May 22, 2009 great now i got that darn song stuck in my head tum tu dum tum dum dum tum tu dum tum there is a house in new orleans they caaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaal the riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii sing sun seriously, though, i like it its a good way to incorporate some hints to the origin of the car and sport into the project this might earn you some nice points in the final judging (did i mention by the way that when the build off is over i am going to post a poll where each entry is a choice and everyone on the board gets to cast their vote?)
RodneyBad Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 "O" God, Now I do. Thanks you guys. its a good way to incorporate some hints to the origin of the car and sport into the project That Idea just came to me while I was in the Think tank. (the shower) No outside distractions, just me and my thoughts. And Boy! Does it get crowed in a hurry TMI?? I thought it would be easier Paint it Red. Mask it. paint white. I Had the mask all ready thought out. But Noooooooooooooo. Red is a Bleeder. Frell!!!!!!!! Didn't think mush about the Voting. Far from the best but Far from the Norm too Outside of an AWD Twin powered Honda And of course, Honda Powered Smartie The S-15 Silvia is gonna be hard to beat for Show & Go.

LVZ2881 Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 Rodney, that paint job is original and well thought out, GREAT JOB!!!! and dont forget you'll have to beat the 650hp drift Shelby!!!!
vizio93 Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 i'm not going to do the Enzo for my drifting car. It just doesn't make sense that someone would drift a $680,000 car that there are only 300+ of. i'm thinkin maybe a porsche or a mercedes.
diymirage Posted May 22, 2009 Author Posted May 22, 2009 I'll decided to get in this, Im doing two cars for now. Toyota Levin and Trueno AE86 from Aoshima kits. scroll back to page 1 post and look at the first name
David Thibodeau Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 Thanks guys..... Got the interior buttoned up tonight. Complete with Nitrous and on board engine diag equipment. Seatbelts are pro tech PE hardware and medical tape painted to match body. The drivers seat is a resin Bride Zeta II from SAS. Pass seat is from the kit.

Wow you did a really good job on the interior.
sigmaman Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 OK,gonna join this one. Even though the car is started I'm not sure I'll get it finished. Will give it a good try though. Hardcore street drift Mazda RX7 FD3S. Using these two kits to build a full on street drifter RX7. Using the full race interior from the blue car, putting it in the stock bodied car. Sort of thing that might be built if there wasn't any restriction on your budget. This race interior has a sequential shifter and hydraulic handbrake. Has all the gauges in the glovebox area of the dash as well. The door panels represent carbon fibre ones so I'll be using SMS carbon fibre decals inside and out for it. I will be using the OZ Nova(silver) wheels, not the Advan RG's(gold). On with the pics. and while I'm at it,heres a taste of another one. This one will be Aluma Coupe pearl yellow.

LVZ2881 Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 AHHHH!!! Where did you get those Meister S1's? I really really want a set of those... They are a discontinued Aoshima wheel set.
diymirage Posted May 28, 2009 Author Posted May 28, 2009 OK,gonna join this one. Even though the car is started I'm not sure I'll get it finished. Will give it a good try though. added you to the list
sigmaman Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 added you to the list Thanks! I got the Meister S1's from the Aoshima Team Samurai FC3S drift RX7. http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10049260
diymirage Posted May 28, 2009 Author Posted May 28, 2009 Eelco, haven't seen you change the entry list to include my builds. you are absolutely right i saved you a spot but then forgot to enter details gimme a minute here
RodneyBad Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 Interior done (give or take a bit) on my Isuzu. swapped in a 5spd shifter instead of Auto. Cage was a tight fit around seats Dash was a tight fit into cage but it works now. it all had to go in at the same time. Ugh.. Yaaaaaaaaaa.. Put on Disk brakes from somewhere. ?? May change wheels tho. a few scrapes from test fitting but it won't show when done any whoo.
diymirage Posted May 29, 2009 Author Posted May 29, 2009 looking really good but i dont think that back seat would be too comfortable you might be the only one (ive seen so far) whos running a full interior
B_rad88 Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 hey diymirage, as soon as i get the window for you know who, then i can enter you know what! BUT this would be entry number#2! i still haven't got my silvia"s" or my AE86"s" yet!
RodneyBad Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 looking really good but i dont think that back seat would be too comfortable you might be the only one (ive seen so far) whos running a full interior Easy answer. Figerglass replica of the rear seat area for a lighter & stock look. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
