RodneyBad Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 (edited) Okay diymirage you are to refrain from driving anything with a motor. Unless you think the airbags could have helped, it's best not to go off. Nothing like having a High Explosive go off in your face. Like getting punched by Mike Tyson.. Except you get to keep your ears I guess That is the one reason I bought an AWD car and Great snow tires. "O" What fun in the snow.. I stopped by my LHS to see the BathTub Buggie and Passed on it to stock up on paint.. saw some Tamiya Light green and figured "What the Hey!!" 3 coats of Green and 3 coats of clear and The wing is a bit behind, I almost forgot about it being in a rush to paint a model. Yup, paint a Model. Most (okay, ALL)of my projects are in Primer. It ain't great (needs some buffin) but painted is as painted does. A Lil Wheel swap, Thanks Mr Zinn On a Lil Side Note, Yes, There is actual mirrors Glued on (not someting I do very often) Edited June 13, 2009 by Zukiholic
remingtonbox Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 Well... I started on the Challenger today. It is a promo model, so there is next to no detail. I started cutting off all of the offending parts, as far as I can tell, Humbinette's Challenger is a rollcage with a body attached... so its gonna have one heck of a tubular structure. I have found someone to design the decals so that headache is somewhat gone. I am trying to find out what motor is used in it, but I am not getting anywhere with that... I'll have an update (with pictures) Monday.

Find a Nascar chassis and use that and I'm sure it had to have a Huge motor. A Current Hemi Any pics of the car anywhere? I Googled Humbinette's Challenger and got nothing.. Hubinette challenger Found it.. Edited June 15, 2009 by Zukiholic

remingtonbox Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 If anyone is looking for a car to build/get inspiration from look at Ross Petty's S15... super cool car
sigmaman Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 Have some more work done. The roll cage is primered as is some of the interior. I've done the dash in satin black. I've mocked up the chassis and all suspension with the interior and glass and set the ride height. Alot of the work in this kit is done for you. All the Aoshima RX7's(FC and FD) that use Fujimi style wheels have a narrower rear axle and a different stub for the front axle so that the wheel backs fit in without increasing the track.Anyone whose tried to put Fujimi wheels onto Aoshima kits will have had this drama. Since this pic was taken I've plugged the holes for the rear view mirrors and drilled new ones on the guards for JDM style set up. This image shows the standard and narrow rear axles. If you look closely you can see where I filed off the mounts for the chassis. Easiest way to lower the back. Heres a pic of the extra parts. The parts on the left are the narrow parts and the ones on the right are the original parts. The narrow discs have a recess for the Fujimi wheel back instead of a raised hat. I've also filed off the calipers on the front to accomodate a Fujimi Brembo disc. The front stub on the left is the one that fits the Fujimi style wheel.
moonlite5hadow Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 great work on that RX-7! here's my Z so far: Its my first roll cage ever (this project is a lot of "firsts" for me) please be nice! also moved the battery off the firewall, moved the engine back for a better balance of weight. spoiler came from Revell's Subaru Impreza WRX STi kit for the exhaust, since i removed the stock fuel tank/spare tire well i have more fudge room with the exhaust, and i dont know if i want a traditional style muffler off to the side: or a 70's volkswagen inspired center exit:
steve_b Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 Hello everyone; I've been lurking on here for a couple months now, and finally joined, and now finally got up the nerve to post on here. This is kinda off topic, but been out of the hobby for almost 20 years, and came back to it about a year and a half ago. After following this thread for a while, I would like to know if it's too late to enter? Seems to be a perfect way to improve my skills further than what they are now. If it's not too late, I'll let in on what my thoughts are as to my submission, but more than likely be early 70s old skool american muscle Thanks, and thanks for all the tips and tricks I've learned on here

sigmaman Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 The Z's looking good. Might look better without the wing though.

steve_b Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 Finally got some time to dig through, put me down for a 68 firebird and/or a 70 boss mustang.... now time to get cutting and taking pics....
diymirage Posted June 29, 2009 Author Posted June 29, 2009 Finally got some time to dig through, put me down for a 68 firebird and/or a 70 boss mustang.... now time to get cutting and taking pics.... done and/or done
B_rad88 Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 well, i might have to withdraw from the build off! i never got my silvias, and the rx-7 i have, i broke the window(and i haven't bought any strawberries yet!) the s2000 i have is long past 40% done so thats out! and the other cars i have are exotics or classics(and to me, these are NOT drifting cars!) i might have one last entry, but....... my camera finally craped out on me, so now i don't have a way to take pics of my work!
steve_b Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 Well..I hope I attached these images correctly. Had a few minutes tonight to open the moostang and check it out....I hate molded in suspension. After looking and thinking about wheel tire combination without a boatload of bligyness (is that a word?) I pulled these outta the parts box from a raybrig NSX that I never will finish after cracking the glass. Kinda like the overall looks of them with this body. Will have to tub out the rear a little to get them tucked under the body on the rear, and of course, it will be dropped a little more. Lot to do with this one, not sure about a stripped interior, or leave it mostly stock looking and add on top of that, fuel tank has to go, and of course the rear seat. I'll probably drop the kit BB engine for something a little smaller with a little less torque. Nascar engine comes to mind.
remingtonbox Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 Well... I finally got some pictures of my project, but only this one turned out this time. I have a Ross Gibson 6.1L Hemi on order for it also.
diymirage Posted July 1, 2009 Author Posted July 1, 2009 Well... I finally got some pictures of my project, but only this one turned out this time. I have a Ross Gibson 6.1L Hemi on order for it also. looking good so far i have lways loved the look of that hood of all the challys i build only one of em had that style hood and that one i didnt get to keep
steve_b Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 Quick mockup on the boss after having a little time to get on the bench. I hate it when work gets in the way. Will get some interior pics when I get a little more organized as to the finished product, still have quite a few variables up in the air on that part. only have rear seat removed, and quick covers and first filler on it (not even smoothed down yet) Adding about 4 inches of drop in the front, right now the rear has about 2 1/2 inches of drop from stock but I still think it needs another inch. Still not firm on wheel/tire yet...So many choices, so little time and funds....
diymirage Posted July 8, 2009 Author Posted July 8, 2009 i dont nkow if i would chage the stance on it steve, i think it looks pretty sweet where it is
steve_b Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 i dont nkow if i would chage the stance on it steve, i think it looks pretty sweet where it is ######, you replied before I even got back to the forums from posting.. I'm still unsure, yeah, I love it's overall stance now, but for what it's being built for, I kinda think it's still too high, was thinking about bringing it down to the point there is just a hint of rubber showing under the well.... again, maybe your right..maybe I'll work in the interior, get some paint and bmf on it and go from that point (I haven't even decided on paint yet)
vizio93 Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 about the stance you gave it. keep it that way. it has an agressive, eat your face off, look . i like it.
tktom24 Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 I have decided to bring out a big dog to play with the little cars... A Shelby GT500....it will be done up as a fully sponsored ride, but I wont reveal the sponsor until later, but you'll get a kick out of it... I have some resin side scoops and a Roush style rear spoiler from PSF hobbies. I may have to narrow the spoiler to get it to fit how I want it. I am using these wheels, and I may paint the centers to match the 2nd color of my sponsor's colors. I found a parts box NASCAR roll cage that I have already started to modify to fit the car. I'll remove the back seat, and fab a block off as well and pull some Sparco style front seats from a different kit. Where did you find those wheels?
LVZ2881 Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 Where did you find those wheels? I ordered them from Hobby Link Japan a couple years ago...
sigmaman Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 Loving both those Mustangs. Keep up the good work guys.
RodneyBad Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 They are all looking good Mine is done. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.p...mp;#entry190829 I may start another one. finish what FujimiLover started?
