This is the Salvino JR Grand Prix 2+2.  It is the generic kit offered by Mike's Decals with his Kodiak decal sheet.

It's been a while since I built one of the Monogram based NASCAR kits, and there was a bit of a learning curve to get back in the swing of building one of these.  It is built box stock.  I did file down the firewall to make sure there was enough clearance between the dash and the front glass as this has been a problem plaguing these kits, since they were designed and molded by Monogram.  The paint is Dupli-Color gloss white and Krylon green for the interior.  The pictures I found of this car seemed to show either green, gray or black for the interior color, so I chose green.  I know the bumper guards on the front of these cars is supposed to be black, but I cannot bring myself to try to paint this yet.  The thought of bleed through or a less than straight line gives me the chills.  The decal work was not my best.  Overall, I am pretty pleased with the finished model.  Thanks for looking.

Nice build Jim.  I love the Pontiac's, and I actually had a 2+2 through the 1980's.  Drove great, lots of looks, but low on power as the cars went into production so fast, they were not legal to have the HO from the Monte SS.  But still, I love the Nascar lower front spoiler on these cars a lot, certainly more than the production models.  Cool car.

Nicely done!  That generation Grand Prix looked better than the Monte Carlo I thought.

Thank you Bruce.  I agree the Grand Prix was a neat looking race car.  I also liked the street car too.

Thank you Bill.  I would liked to have owned a 2+2, but my wife and I were just starting out, and it wasn't in the cards.  I really liked both the street car and the race car, and am glad Salvino's did the model.
