flatheadgary Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 does anybody know the reason ford built some of them with a rounded back and some that are just flat across the back?
Guest Davkin Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 They didn't. The flatbacks are 28-29, the rounded backs are 30-31. There may have been some model year cross-over during the tooling change, so it may be possible that some 29's got registered as 30's. David
flatheadgary Posted May 11, 2009 Author Posted May 11, 2009 (edited) well here is my dilemma. i was trying to build this car and the article in the mag says it's a '29. also, i am using the ala kart body and it matches this car. note that the cowl is not '30-'31. Edited May 11, 2009 by flatheadgary
RyanSilva Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Hey Gary, its a 28-29 touring car back, grafted on.
Eshaver Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Hey Gary, its a 28-29 touring car back, grafted on. Yep he's right . I sent a guy some model T stuff to do a hot rod in Canada last week . Sinse he was doing a rod I provided him with drawings to take the pick up cab from the old M P C 1929 Ford Model A and graft it to the A M T 1927 Model T Touring car. Yes , it;s easier than you might think . I sat around with one cup of decent coffee and figgured it out . Gary If nessesary I can send you a copy of the same drawings I did for the guy in Canada . By the way, I have completed both a Stock Willys Coupe Americar and a Stock , well near stock Willys Truck thanks too you Gary for the Amoco Projek . Ed Shaver
flatheadgary Posted May 11, 2009 Author Posted May 11, 2009 well guys, you are probably right. although this car was done by a 16 year old kid back in the early '60's. not sure if he had done it or someone he got it from did. i know kids did some cool stuff back then though. thanks for the replies. ed, great job! anything i can do to help. what are we in this for, if not that? thanks again, gary
tim boyd Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Guys....the AlaKart body is actually a '29 Model A cowl and doors grafted to a '27T Roadster rear cowl (the panel beside and behind the driver's seat)....at least according to several articles about the 1/1 car plus the parts look like the above in 1/25th scale. In my humble opinion it is a real natural and I've used it in quite a number of builds over the years....TIM BOYD
Art Anderson Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Hey Gary, its a 28-29 touring car back, grafted on. Correction. That's not a '28-'29 Model A Roadster Pickup cab at all, but rather it's a shortened Tudor Sedan body, with the top cut away completely. Art
RyanSilva Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 (edited) Correction. That's not a '28-'29 Model A Roadster Pickup cab at all, but rather it's a shortened Tudor Sedan body, with the top cut away completely. Art Never said it was a truck cab either. Should make for a fun build! Edited May 12, 2009 by RyanSilva
