bandit1 Posted July 1 Posted July 1 (edited) Looking through the forums here, I only found 1 other 56 Bel Air kit built. This kit I got absolutely FREE!!! when I did a storage clean out job in town, this kit was in there and it appears to be all there. Going through it some, it appears to have had the pillars broke/bent so I will be working on straightening that out first... but originally I watch some YouTube and there was a guy that had a 57 that he took on power tour, so I was searching around and unfortunately the lack of $$$ doesn't allow me to get the real deal yet but stumbled on a 56 Bel air being sold at Mecum here in about another week or so in Florida that I might build a replica of being I was hoping to get the real one and power tour it next year (but unless something happens soon, that probably wont happen) I can Dream cant I!? bandit1 Posted July 3 Author Posted July 3 (edited) "Appears to be all there..." A very big NOPE! Found that the engine is completely MIA except a few bits... So I say it might be perfect for a engine swap. I was looking a little for like a small block Chevy 383 stroker or something...I'll look some more tomorrow or later. Also am looking for a few odd/end pieces I'll post in the wanted section later. But this is where I am at whilst on a Facebook model auction for tonight. Most of the stuff is ready for primer/paint... Just what color(s) I'm not sure yet? I worked on the piller and it's pretty straight but will straighten it more later Edited July 3 by bandit1 3
johnyrotten Posted July 3 Posted July 3 Interested to see where this one goes,I picked up the same kit a few years ago. I like 55-6's a bit more, lower trim the better. Less common. The pillars are repairable, there's more than a few tutorials on here.
bobss396 Posted July 3 Posted July 3 I built one around 1996 when I got back into modeling. Testors paint, zero aftermarket parts... I was not happy with the results. BACK IN THE BOX!!... I dug it out in early 2001, cut it up to make a stock car. 1
Zippi Posted July 3 Posted July 3 Ya just don't see a lot of 56 Chevy's built. This will be a nice build.
KWT Posted July 3 Posted July 3 I've built this one. Once last year and when I was in my teens. A lot of people talk smack about it, but it's a good build. Good luck rounding up ya bits. Model on.
