johnyrotten Posted Sunday at 06:14 PM Posted Sunday at 06:14 PM Absolutely true. There are times I think I should be moving along a bit faster, but I've learned where rushing can lead you to more work in the long run. Quality over Quantity. Very nice work with the picnic tables and mirrors. All those small touches add up in the end. 1

Also, this is how you end up with several boxed kits that are the same. One day in the distant future, one of our family members will sell our stash, and some of the boxed kits might make a profit . . . maybe even good money, but . . . we will be gone. David

My wife actually supports my hobby. It kind of lets her know my brain is still somewhat working if I can build these little cars somewhat well. I'm not just sitting in my recliner staring at the television all day or just staring out into space with really nothing on my mind. That she is glad for so she's a big fan of my work and always interested when I show her positive progress on a build.

To have an understanding wife who understands the positive aspects of this wonderful hobby is great. My wife doesn't seem to get it at all . . . Both my wife and my daughter have no interest in my hobby, sadly, and they would rather I did not do it. This has been compounded by the doctor's recent medical diagnosis, which did not help my case ! I ask myself, what would I be doing during the day if I wasn't building scale model cars and dioramas . . . Most likely wasting time and getting overweight probably. David
Big Messer Posted Monday at 05:45 PM Posted Monday at 05:45 PM My wife is not against my models, just stated that the stash is not allowed to grow any more, but I am free to keep going with whatever is inside the house already. As a matter of fact as i am building the Chevrolet house truck part of the kitchen table has been taken because my regular work area is too small for such a beast.

That fire truck is a good sized build to figure out, and it is surprising how much space the 1:16 scale models need. Funny that you should mention the kitchen table Jose, because my wife actually suggested that I take over half of our kitchen table to build my Rolls-Royce model while the temperature in the loft space has dropped recently. Her suggestion was a welcome surprise. Only downside is that her Chinese cooking produces a lot of flames and steam some of the time. David
Anglia105E Posted Monday at 10:25 PM Author Posted Monday at 10:25 PM The sill molding on the driver's side of the car has not only fallen off, but it has also disappeared . . . This evening I cut a 92 mm length of 0.025 inch styrene rod and placed it onto a couple of wooden blocks, with double sided tape to hold it. Using the tip of the CD marker pen, I applied liquid chrome to the styrene rod. This will be allowed to dry overnight for 24 hours before handling . . . David 1

I must be fortunate, my wife occasionally builds a model, though I tend to buy more for her than she builds. I'll take that as a win I suppose.

Anglia105E Posted yesterday at 12:24 AM Author Posted yesterday at 12:24 AM Tonight the driver's side sill molding was PVA glued in place onto the lower edge of the body . . . This was following 26 hours drying for the liquid chrome. Now a further 24 hours will allow the PVA glue to set fully overnight . . . David 2
