Last night I test fitted the body, interior seating tub, rolling chassis with engine, and bonnet / hood panels to see how things were looking.

In the process of assembling the two bonnet panels with the radiator grille shell, the roof aerial became detached. This was bound to happen, and so I shall drill a small hole in the roof during today and super glue the roof antenna into the hole . . .

I believe you predicted the antenna doing exactly what it did. No problem. Your fix sounds like a good one.

I seem to remember your good self suggesting that if the radio antenna did fall off later, then it might be a good idea to drill a hole for it . . . I might be mistaken ?

You might be right about that, David. But I'm so old I've already forgotten if I did.

This evening a hole was carefully and precisely drilled in the centre of the roof at the top edge of the windshield. The steel radio antenna was then inserted into this hole and super glued in place. Liquid Chrome was then applied around the base of the radio antenna mounting point, and also along the top edge of the windshield surround molding . . . There was some liquid chrome remaining on my piece of scrap card, so I touched up the door strips which were in need of some tidying up.

I am pleased with the result of this work and the liquid chrome can be allowed 24 hours to dry fully . . .

As we go into Friday 14th November, the UK is about to be hit by Storm Claudia . . . This will bring us strong gusty winds and very heavy rain from 12:00 midday through to 12:00 midnight, so basically 12 hours of continuous extreme weather . . . The outside temperature will drop from 14°C to only 6°C for the duration of the storm.

The ' ROLLS-ROYCE ' plate has been printed out on thin paper, and then PVA glued onto the rocker cover of the engine. This nameplate fits between the front two chrome nuts of the three rocker cover retaining nuts . . .

I am working my way through a few aspects of the engine detailing, as now seems the right time to do so . . .

Great work David. I like the "cheat sheet" you have made up in the first picture. Handy little guide to have at the bench. I've got to remember that.

Yes John, I do find drawings and notes very useful to have at the workbench. I usually write down precise measurements, which helps too.

Measurements are a definite for me, being a fabricator and running machining equipment at work. I usually end up having to look at my reference material for colors with models multiple times, I always seem to forget to paint one thing or another.

Looking good on the antenna and the logo on the engine looks very authentic the way you printed it. Solid progress going on here. Please take care during the storm and don't even think about venturing out into it. Flash floods can come out of nowhere in an instant in weather like that.  Just hunker down and ride it out.

Went out for most of today, and there is some local flooding and fallen trees blocking main roads . . . We live close to the River Derwent in Derbyshire, which is prone to bursting it's banks in certain places . . . Didn't venture out yesterday at the height of this recent storm. 

Apart from the engine detailing and some tidying of the wheel embellishments, the Silver Cloud is nearing completion. As usual, I don't want to complete a model, because when I do finish the build that is the moment that scares me . . . I seem to lose interest in the finished model, and also I have no idea what project might be next. This time of year has me thinking about the month of December, which as well as Christmas festivities, it is the time when my daughter arrives home from London, for just one week with us . . . I try to avoid starting a new project during the second half of November for those reasons.
