old low&slo Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 hey guys if this topic has been done before sorry. if it has if you could let me know where I can find it I sure would appreciate it. if not what I need is what size wire to use for heater hoses , radiator hose, spark plug wire and battery cable. also what can I use for hose clamps or some type of fittings to make for connections. I have seen pe hose clamps. is this what you guys use or something else? I would like to start adding some more details but on a budget. any help you guys could give would really be appreciated . thanks in advance greg
roadhawg Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 (edited) Radio Shack wrapping wire is cheap and plentiful for plug wires/battery cables. http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.js...oductId=2062640 Comes in red, white and blue, and can be painted if you need to. As far as hose clamps, I just cut a thin strip of BMF and wrap around the hose to simulate a clamp. If you're REALLY frugal, I'm sure a thin strip of tape painted silver would look just as good. Brendan Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 I go to craft stores and places that sell fishing supplies, especially places that sell fly tying supplies as they have more selections of tubings and wire. As for hose clamps, like said in the previous post, BMF works. I also use heating duct tape (aluminum tape) that you can find at any hardward store. It's quite a bit thicker than BMF which I think looks a little more realistic. Then I cut a small piece of wire and glue it on top of the foil to make it look like it has a screw for tightening.
