Mark Posted Tuesday at 11:56 PM Posted Tuesday at 11:56 PM That tank is the wrong shape and in the wrong location. It should be off to the drivers' side leaving room for an oblong muffler alongside it. For some reason, AMT left the gas tank off of their kit chassis.

The Revell 57 Ford kits have very good 312 engines in them. There are a few engine options depending the kit, stock, dual four barrels, and the factory centrifugal supercharger. There might even be two different dual quad intakes, I want to say one is the original "towering inferno" intake and the one in the gasser versions is a little more modern. ManiacModeler Posted Wednesday at 03:56 AM Author Posted Wednesday at 03:56 AM Yeah the 60 lump frame i have has no tank on it, didn't look to see if it's on a tree somewhere, that other frame pictured though, hell I could add thin strip styrene and make it like cell straps. That might be the best route. At least I wouldn't have to choose the bed out, or go into too much frame mods, thnx Brian for the engine info.
Ragtop Man Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Ditto on the Mobys and Trumpeter kits, although none of those are what we would call a cheap date. Easy layup is the AMT '69 Cougar. While it does not have the shock-tower style engine compartment, the wheelbase is within an RCH, just knock off the rear upper wheelwells. The kit (Ranchero) core support and firewall work fine with it. If you are revisting this several months from now, DM me to see if I have made any progress resin casting the AMT '62-3 Fairlane engine compartment. While not an exact match for the Falcon/Ranchero, it's pretty close, and can be modified to suit the pre-66 AMT Falcons, Comets and '64-5 Fairlanes. In the meantime, if you want to get it to "3 footer" accuracy, the chassis and engine compartment from the AMT '69 Torino Cobra can be whittled easily to fit, too. Chassis is easy to section, exhaust pipes (hardest to paint) are separate and the chasiss is easily sectioned.
ManiacModeler Posted 9 hours ago Author Posted 9 hours ago So here's an update: digging through my current parts box, I'm going to take my current lump, cast it into a chopable heap, I'm going to mod in a suitable rear section, and what I feel would have been a period correct front suspension build. Then probably custom bash an interior pan.
