What type of water pump is this, it comes in the amt 40 willys gasser. Also, how would you go about plumbing it/ mounting it.

That's an aftermarket unit, often used for boat applications.  The name eludes me at the moment.

I just checked an AMT Rayson-Craft boat kit; its Ford V8 engine has the same type of pump (again, no brand name mentioned).

The name I was thinking of is JABSCO.  A search of Jabsco water pumps indicates they appear to still be in business, but the style of pump used in the early Sixties as in those two model kits is not being used anymore.  Looks like most boat applications use an electric pump now, as opposed to one being driven off of the boat's engine.

I do recall seeing a couple of similar applications of that style pump, as well as pictures of other ones in use.  The AMT Willys kit is accurate in that respect.

As far as the AMT Willys kit pump goes, I'm not certain it's correct.

It appears to have an intake that points down, which would suck cool water out of the bottom of the radiator.

It also appears to have two discharge nozzles that would pump water into the block (through the timing cover) where the OEM pump would, but they don't appear to be oriented correctly or connected to anything.

Hot water from the engine flows back to the radiator out the thermostat housing on top as usual.

NOTE: I suspect the pump was tooled from a separate pump not installed on an engine.

Jabsco made a staggering array of pumps for marine and other applications, with many being mechanically driven by a shaft from the cam through the timing cover.

FWIW, I'm certain electric water pumps for cars were used as early as 1960. Brian Chuchua ran one on his record-setting Potvin-front-blown SBC-powered Corvette at Bonneville, breaking 170 mph.

Though the article cited doesn't mention water pumps, I have an original article in a period Hot Rod that does.

The current production cam-driven pump below is similar in design and function to the one in the AMT kit, with one intake and two discharge ports.

Like the vintage Jabsco, it also has a flexible "rubber" impeller.

EDIT: I haven't been able to find a photo of the kit-style pump installed on a car engine yet...

A couple of the old companies that come to mind, were Offenhauser and EELCO......  Remember seeing somewhat that style (that AMT copied) but to save my life, cannot recall.....  have spent the past couple hours looking thru early 60's/late 50's Hot Rod magazines, to no avail.....   For whatever reason, the old Blown Hydro Boats keep coming to mind......  May just be the wanderings of an old man's mind....😉

The Willys installation copies the orientation of the pump as used in the Rayson-Craft boat kit.  A few comments:

-The boat kit does not include hose detail.

-The Willys installation need not use the pump in the best way.  The car needed to have a water pump and radiator to meet Gas class rules, but the car didn't run for more than two or three minutes at a time.  Start, pull into staging lanes, ten-second pass, shut off, push car gets you back to the pits to cool down.
