Jim N Posted yesterday at 06:55 PM Posted yesterday at 06:55 PM This is one I have wanted to build for decades. Back in the day, I had a resin body and the donor kit. I kept trying to secure a clean sheet of the JNJ decal sheet, but to no avail. The decal sheets I found were yellowed beyond use. This is the Salvino generic kit with Mike’s decals. I built the kit box stock. The paint on the body is Dupli-Color white, the chassis is Krylon Sunburst Yellow. The kit went together without much of a fuss. I filed down the fire wall to make sure the front windshield did not interfere with the dashboard. The interesting bit is that the team must have painted the window nets yellow. My research pictures showed that either black or red would show through the yellow. The black nylon or I can only assume red leather would wear though from use. I used a black wash on the window net to simulate this. The other interesting bit is that for some races the dashboard was painted yellow and most others black. I assume the yellow must have been an early effort and the team moved to black. I also figure that the yellow dash could have put off an awful amount of glare, since it was a gloss yellow. The decals were a challenge as both sides and the hood has to go on at the same time in order for everything to line up well. It took A LOT of time and decal setting solution to get these to set well. I am pretty pleased with the way this one turned out. As Alton Brown said on one of his Food Network shows. "Your patience will be rewarded". I think mine were. I thank everybody for looking. 3 1
