Bob Wingate's Model Cars

[250 Testa Rossa]

Recently, I found out that Clippinger Chevrolet's sales manager, the late Bob Wingate was really into model cars. Not sure if any of you guys know about him and the custom one-off 1967 FSO Corvette that he owned while working at Clippinger, but I would really love to find more information about his car models. The only thing I have so far is a single page from an old magazine (I think Rod & Custom) showing his amazing collection of dealer promos. Please let me know if you have any other info.

There were several parts to those articles, covering different makes through 1962 or 1963.  I remember reading somewhere that he sold all of the models in the late Sixties or early Seventies.

Yes. I would love to find pictures of more of these articles. I know one was in the September 1961 issue of Car Craft.

That page is from Rod & Custom magazine’s “Model Cars Past and Present” series by Bob Wingate. He had over 1,200 dealer promos back then. You can find more about his collection in other Rod & Custom issues from the mid-1960s.
