Gary Chastain Posted Wednesday at 06:14 PM Posted Wednesday at 06:14 PM This is a build I have been thinking about for some time, but I wanted to do a later version. I recently found the newer cab at Global Trucks. I bought the sleeper version and day cab version. This week in seen a picture of a C500 that just lit my fire, I gotta build this one. Sent picture to my buddy Jeff and for the last few days we come up with a ton of ideas, some good and some over the top. I am missing rear suspension yet. So this is my inspiration, oh and one more thing…….hardly no chrome…. All business. love the gray and black paint scheme with a touch of red, so this color scheme for sure. 6
Gary Chastain Posted Wednesday at 06:20 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 06:20 PM The mock-up, the day cab version and that hood fit well together, I tried the sleeper cab but the hood does not fit well. I wanted to use a bit heavier frame, most of my road trucks are .437 so I am going to scratch build a frame with .500 frame rails. It will be tri-drive(more on thar later). this will be my first build with a Global cab, have bought a few, but starting here. 6
Gary Chastain Posted Wednesday at 06:22 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 06:22 PM I think this is the rear suspension used on the C500, at least by internet search, and we know the internet is always correct. I do not have anything close to this in my stash. 4
BK9300 Posted Wednesday at 06:24 PM Posted Wednesday at 06:24 PM (edited) That's a tough looking truck, Gary - going to be a great one to follow! (a twin steer, C500 is definitely on my list!) Edited Wednesday at 06:25 PM by BK9300 1
Gary Chastain Posted Wednesday at 06:25 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 06:25 PM Axles from internet search. I have the three axles with square housing I think I can adapt. Will update to disk brakes as I am out of the older air brakes. 4
Biggu Posted Wednesday at 06:27 PM Posted Wednesday at 06:27 PM This is so cool!! It is a beast of a truck and I personally think the day cab os a good choice and it may look cool with a narrow 36” sleeper like the one from the AMT Kenworth kits , if you wanted a sleeper, just another wild thought. 🤔😉. The color suits this truck….. this will be an epic build , I’m looking forward to all the updates, Gary ….. no pressure🤭🤣🤣
Gary Chastain Posted Wednesday at 06:28 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 06:28 PM The year I am shooting for is a 2017 ish, so I have an X15 motor to use but no transmission at this point. 4

Gary Chastain Posted Wednesday at 06:41 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 06:41 PM Tires and wheels. I bought these 1:24 scale tires a long time ago but they for the wide 1:25 scale front rims perfectly. Because this is not an oilfield truck I want a road tire with thought of building a lowboy trailer with a Jeep and stinger, someday. I am sometimes curious about aftermarket scales and their compatibility but it works good. The rear rims are Auslowe 1:24 scale with some larger/taller 1:25 scale tires. For you purists, I just crossed the line 🤭😆. any help appreciated guys, jump in. This build is a little outa by box of skills. 4
Biggu Posted Wednesday at 08:00 PM Posted Wednesday at 08:00 PM Gary, IMHO , I would use amore aggressive tread pattern for the drivers. Even though it is going to be somewhat of a highway truck, these units as I am sure you are aware sometimes have to go off the beaten track somewhat to snag a load. A street tire or the likes of a steer tire probably wouldn’t give the operator a lot of confidence once off the black top. Tjese are what I’m using for my LW conversion, which would be roughly the same application of your 500. Just a random thought and something more to think about. I’m actually putting the same set on the trailer as well. 4

I'm sure you've found stuff like this online, but this is a site I save lots of pics from. In keeping with your inspiration truck, the one in the link below gives lots of detail pics (81) - might be of some help with ideas. https://www.rbauction.com/pdp/2009-kenworth-c500-8x6-sleeper-winch-truck/14176120?utm_source=www.ironplanet.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=syndication 1
ShakyCraftsman Posted Wednesday at 11:24 PM Posted Wednesday at 11:24 PM I second what Jeff said. Thaose are great drive tires. Now you need a more aggressive front float. Ask Jeff what he used on his Autocar build (I think) Ron G 1

I’d recommend A&N for the tires, very detailed. They have aggressive 385 front floats, and the perfect X Works heavy tread 315 drive tires. 3
