modelcars65ChevImpala003.JPG.2452279be7b5ac41b1bf94ad01d914ff.JPGRun into a problem guys. I've got these terrible pin BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH spots around the wheel arch and along one of the body trims. So, is this too much paint? I've started to rub the paint back as you can see and in places I'm down to the primer. My question is, rub it back more and then add primer, add rub the whole body back and reprime. Opinions please. What I have been doing is for color, two light coats and then a heavy/wet coat, is this correct? Thanks

Hey Don. I can’t say for certain what caused the spots, but I’d start over, if it’s Tamiya lacquer, submerge the whole body in isopropyl alcohol, it will strip off the paint. I had to do this with one of my previous builds, takes a couple of days, but comes off mostly, the more stubborn parts you can scrub with an old toothbrush.

Probably solvent pop. Basically the next coat traps the solvent of the previous and it tries to work its way out causing this. Like Stuart said, strip it and start over is a good idea. Too heavy with paint, too soon with the next coat can cause this. The type and brand of paint can be very helpful for others to identify the issue and give advice. If you sand, you might lose some detail, like the emblem or the wheel arch trim.

Hi Stu, Isop should be here today, had to order it in, unfortunately couldn't go out to get it, I'll let you know how it goes. In the meantime, I did the RX7 windscreen tint band, I couldn't get the old stuff off, did the best I could, not sure if you saw that post. I tried to send you a PM but for whatever reason, the system said I couldn't.

Leave it in the iso bath for a couple of days, a toothbrush should deal with the stubborn patches. Should look a bit like my Olds here when done. IMG_2865.jpeg.cfe28491ed28908f67767377548ae4f2.jpeg👍🏻

Thanks Stu, I did a bit of work(sanding) whilst I was waiting for isop to come, so hopefully won't take too long.
