Cobble up a BIG carburetor ,fit it on top of the Mack intake manifold,,delete the injection pump and install a prewired distributor should be close enough>>  1953 Waukesha Fire Fighter Engines Ad: 145 GKB High Output Engine. Wisconsin - Picture 1 of 1

Thanks for the info Scott.  And you just gave me  an idea for a future build. I like the cab on this aerial ladder. Just have to figure out what I can use as the base cab before I build the  cab extension.

Lots of rain today, so been at the bench most of the morning. Started  building the  hose. Bed and cabinets. I  spring clamped  the 4 sections together and  filed all the edges to match. The with  drum sander  , did. The wheel openings so they  would also match.

Go on line and find Waukesha engine images that you can use to detail the Mack.  The Waukesha gas engine had two valve covers and had dual ignition as I remember.  I made up one for the '61 Maxim S model.  Here are a couple of looks at it.100_9184.JPG.6476ef24bce95005ed80c20d997ee490.JPG100_9185.JPG.b46d1d8304ba15fd8d7197b4ab81ce8c.JPG

Waukesha was quite common along with Hall Scott and Hercules.

Nice fab going on ! You rough in parts similar to me, doodle a pattern then dremel out the openings. Quick and easy

Looking forward to more pics

Jeff,

yes it is quick and easy, sometimes I will sit and draw the body on paper, or do a mock up in cardboard.   The quick and easy way has me redoing things I didn’t anticipate or like once putting the parts together. Patience is not always my strongest point, LOL

Just found this Waukesha "fire fighter" brochure.  Might be helpful.

Charles,

thank you for the information ,   I usually just use the kit engines as is. I will attempt to convert and customize  the motor for this build.

You got a lot done today! I just got home from making runs to West Orange Fire Dept. and University Hospital's shop in Newark

Scott,

i know a lot of medics from the the U.   Several are now retired, or moved on  like myself . We use to do mutual aid with West Orange , sometimes I miss  being up North . That is until I drive up and hit the traffic! Nothing like Essex County !

They just got a batch of Chevy/Horton trucks and a couple F450 Super Duty Hortons, been delivering them and picking up jobs their shop can't handle,West Orange FD is hurting,,no funds,,they have 2 ladder trucks out of service for major stuff and they're still running old E series/Hortons with 7.3 Diesels. The West Orange Rescue Squad went defunct a good number of years ago and the Fire Dept. took over EMS chores
