Karens aside....

I have been waiting for passive RFID tags to become cheap enough to attach them to item packaging. No scanning of anything. Wheel up to a tag reader and everything in your cart (and down your pants) automatically gets tallied within a second, and the total shows up on the screen for payment.

Ten years ago, tags cost several dollars, now they're ten cents. Maybe getting close.

When I go to Walmart it's usually for two or three items and generally over half of my visit time is in the checkout process.

Theoretically, Walmart can provide a special card with an RFID that has your payment info and place readers at the exit and you would actually just walk out of the store without going to a checkout; theoretically of course.
