fellas,

I just saw an AMT 1969 Mustang on ebay, the most recent release I guess. Can anyone give us a heads up on whether it's

the old MPC kit or the actuall AMT releas e from 1969. Thanks for the help...

Pete, most likely it's the old MPC undersized kit. It would be nice to have an ACCURATE 69/70 kit in 25th scale. I really don't know which one it is, but I'd guess that one is it.

They are the exact same kit Pete. Only differences are the custom wheels: minilites in the MPC,5 spoke star wheels in the AMT: the AMT kit has the stock decals where the MPC doesn't. It does seem undersized and the stock wheels look a little oversized. It also has a pretty crude chassis as far as detail goes.

Not only is it crude, but on the last one I built, the wheelbase was too long. If built straight out of the box, the front wheels sat WAAAAAAAY too far forward, like on an old Funny Car. It's a pretty simple fix to drill some new holes to the rear of the molded in ones, but it still makes you wonder what somebody was thinking!

Revell's late 80's '69 CJ,( build the kit back in 1989-90, really nice & accurate, factory stock & SS option parts & decals where included)... miles ahead of the ex MPC annual kit

Pete, that AMT kit IS the old 1/26th scale MPC kit. It IS underscaled,so was MPC's 70 Mustang. AMT's ORIGINAL ANNUAL kit was 1/25th, and VERY accuratley detailed. The 70 is nice too. Only when Revell bought out their 69 CJ Mustang did this car get the REAL detail moulding it deserved! Too bad the grille areas a little flat, but, hey, it can be fixed, and it IS a REAL NICE kit!
