jdcar32 Posted yesterday at 01:02 AM Posted yesterday at 01:02 AM I need (4) lenses for my old tool AMT Corvair build. I can't deal with chrome plated headlights. The lenses need to be about .21" or 7/32" diameter. Slightly bigger may work, I can reduce them. I'd buy 'em if I could, or beg for them, or trade. Can anyone offer a source or trade ? Thanks
tim08 Posted yesterday at 02:05 AM Posted yesterday at 02:05 AM You could try UV resin. Get some alluminite molding putty, mix it up then press it on the molded in lights, Then fill them in with clear uv resin and cure it with a uv light. Really cheap and simple to do. Hope this helps 1
jdcar32 Posted 21 hours ago Author Posted 21 hours ago Thats a great idea, I suppose Hobby Lobby has some sort of mold material if not the alluminite. I have the UV nail kit that I use for attaching clear parts and making instrument lenses
Duane Garner Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago Try this: I use the clear plastic lense from a "googlie eye". Just select the size you want and remove the back with a hobby knife. Hobby Lobby carries them in multiple sizes, even an assorted pack 1
stitchdup Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago put some sort of mold release on a large metal working file, then a few drops of the clear uv glue. cure it, peel it off and te jobs done. you can also put the file in a vice and tighten it onto clear sheet. it should leave reasonably convincing lense texture. then its cut to size for which i'd use a leather punch 1
1930fordpickup Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago Silly putty has been mentioned on here to use as a mold. I have not tried it myself. 1
