I am interested in knowing if any model manufacturer puts out an R34 Skyline with a motor (not curbside) I have a friend who wants me to build a model of his R34 M code but wants the motor under the bonnet so he can display it with bonnet up.

This is for photo purposes so the number plate has been scrubbed out for security reasons, this is the car I want to replicate.

Ed, I don't think there is a R34 with engine. Most of them are curbside. Not sure of the engine differences from the R32 but HLJ has a pic of just an engine kit by Aoshima:

Maybe you could make that work in one of the many R34 kits they or Fujimi produce.

Good Luck!

Thanks guys the car has no c]grille or inserts on the bonnet to let air into the engine bay and the guy wants a replica of his R34 to be right on with no alteraions so it's going to be hard to find a car that will fit the bill but I think I can do it, I'm going to give it a good try anyway.

Dingo, I think that is going to be a bit of work. It looks like his car was altered a bit. I think you will have to purchase a few kits and cut them up to get what he wants.

That might be a good starting point with parts sourced form other kits to replicate it correctly. I think the big factor here is the expense. How many kits or parts you'll need, the cutting and re-working and of course time.

Good Luck to you. IF you do start it it would be great to see you build it up on here.

You're either going to have to cut up several kits, or somehow find one of Ebbro's really nice 1/24 built diecast models of the GTR and modify it's appearance to that of your friend's car. The Ebbro model is out of production, but there are still some out there if you dig hard enough. It has full engine/chassis detail unlike the kits. Just Google Ebbro 1/24 GTR, you can also find photos on HLJ if you do a search there.

Thanks Chris & Bob, one thing I did forget to write in the first notation is that this car will be hard to build as it's an X-drift car that has been rebuilt to road going condition so it makes it a very rare bird on the road, beside the fact that the M-Spec car is a rare one in Australia there is about only 10 of them and 3 as I call it live in my home state of South Australia, anywa guys I'll do my best to locate what I need and if the guy doesn't really need the motor area then I'll do just the outside but I sure would like to do the whole thing maybe a challenge for me to do the mods required.

Dingo ;)
