iBorg Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 I know they are out there, but for the life of me I cannot find them or remember who has them. Any help is much appreciated. For a funny car, take a look at Comp Resins. AMT made a fairly stock body that was sold as a funny car. The AMT kits are of course plastic and could be converted with a stock Vega into a pretty good replica stock. Mike
PlasticWagens Posted June 11, 2009 Author Posted June 11, 2009 Looking for a stock replica or close. Someone had them on the Bay a couple months back.
PlasticWagens Posted June 27, 2009 Author Posted June 27, 2009 R&R Vacum Craft makes one. I am going to purchase one and will post the build up as I go. Photo courtesy of MightyMouse -
Steven Zimmerman Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 I have R&R's Vega wagon. I would not purchase another. Steven Zimmerman

Steven Zimmerman Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 The roof ribs are only 'half' there, the roof is higher on the passenger side, the rear window is taller on one side, the 'B' pillars are wavy, the quarter panels are REALLY wavy, especially around the vents, the rear side windows have a dip at the body line, the tail lights are molded in and not well done, the headlights are also molded in which is too bad, because they didn't need to be; half the drip moldings are missing. This thing will take a lot of work to be anywhere NEAR a nice model..........good luck! I'm not a great model builder, but I'm not half bad,and this will be a bear to straighten out.I think what bothers me the most is,with just a little more careful work this could have been a good resin cast piece...................Steve Zimmerman

Thanks Steve. I think I will buy a AMT Funny Car Wagon and just graft the roof to an old Larsen body I have that has bad pillars.
FUSIONBOY Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 I saw one of these at the dealership I worked at back int the late 80's. it was the panel style and in incredible condition, 1 problem, the raised rear floor and non-adjustable drivers seat and me being 6'7 made for a comical clown car type of test drive, plus the 3 sp on the floor didn't help either, but it sure was a neat lookin lil ride.
Custom Hearse Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 it doesn't really help you any but i have two of the AMT bodies and they are pretty nice. i have an early Vega wagon and the later slant nose style, both are already projects to be Super Pro type drag cars. the rear wheel openings are "stock" sized and i've stretched the openings on one already. the only real issue with the bodies is the notch in the cowls for the engine to stick through. not a real big deal to fill it back in though Dave You should take the body and parts that are unaltered and see if you can get it resin cast. I would love to have about 6 of those to build!
