USAC_1957 Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 Hi all, I just bought a set of decals from Penngwen for the Bobby Allison-driven #85 Datsun 510 TranAm car. I'm looking forward to building this except for 1 detail, the less-than-spectacular 2 piece tires. Do any resin-caster produce a tire I could use as a replacement? TIA
mikemodeler Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 Not sure what type of tire you are looking for but I know that the Modelhaus has some nice tires. I would start there and if they don't have it, let us know and maybe someone knows of other sources. Mike Scheve
Randy Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 Perry's has the small tires used on the front of Penske Camaro. I know someone used them before for the datsun, but I don't know if they fit the kit tires.
USAC_1957 Posted November 7, 2006 Author Posted November 7, 2006 I'd forgotten about Perry's, thanks for the reminder. The small Dunlops look promising-I need something to fit the small (13") wheels in the kit. I'm thinking a fairly recent kit (maybe the Beatnik Bandit II) had a small Dunlop tire that may be wide enough for a replacement. This is what's frustrating, the rest of the Datsun kit is really nice, except for the tires...
