Dixie Twister Finished..anybody Up For A Drag
USAC_1957 replied to Tye Brown's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
A great looking model! Thanks for sharing -
Put this together a couple years back. Box stock except for Satco slicks and Slixx decals. Hope you like it!

Thanks to all for the kind words! The Altered kit and the Jeep kit were sitting on the shelf, and my warped mind took it from there

Here's one I built a few years ago from the re-released AMT kit. The color doesn't come across well in the photos, but it's a metallic silver/gray with a pearl overcoat. The stripes came from a Slixx Pro Stock decal. Engine is the DeSoto from the AMT Effie, with the exhaust turnouts from an Edmunds supermod. The seats were from the parts box-Revell 1st generation Willys I believe. Not sure where I got the tool boxes for the trailer...

Was cleaning up some of my photos and thought I'd share these- it's a heavily massaged "Hogan's Heroes" Jeep body on a "Winged Express" chassis. Transplanted a torsion-bar front suspension and a 427 Cammer. Bruce Harrison Anchorage, AK

Question about painting funny car bodies
USAC_1957 replied to USAC_1957's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Thanks Hondo! Bruce Harrison Anchorage, AK -
If this has been addressed previously, my apologies. Getting ready to tackle the re-released MPC Blue Max funny car, and was wondering (in general) what color should the inside of the body be painted? Body color? If it is left in "raw" fiberglass, what would be a good color match? Thanks in advance Bruce Harrison Anchorage, AK

When Will This Be Kitted??

Perhaps it's a push bar to get out of snow drifts.... -
1/16 Hemi Hydro
USAC_1957 replied to Smart-Resins's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'd be much more interested in a "picklefork'-style hull that could be built as a modern ski-boat or drag boat. There are enough 1/16 scale drag-racing engine parts around that this would be a better path. Gotta agree with some of the folks posting in the other thread related to this - this would be a great project for "down the road", after something more mainstream is produced and sold... -

Today's Raid On Big Lots
USAC_1957 replied to 62rebel's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I picked up a couple of the Payhauler kits at an area Big Lots - $5.00 each... -
Was going through some catalogs last night and found an older one from RB Motion in Ohio. They produce some really neat machined aluminum detail bits. Are the still in business? TIA!!!
-
The Deora kit, which was re-released fairly recently, has a slant-6 Mopar. Found one at Big Lots for $5 not long ago...

Andy, that is one of my all-time favorite models! A question-were the centrifugal superchargers scratchbuilt?
-
The tank is wiiiicked looking! What size styrene rod did you use for the frame?

Model with 390 Ford engine?
USAC_1957 replied to curt42241's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Wouldn't the engines in the '60 Starliner kits pass visually for a 390? -
4-lug Minilite wheels???
USAC_1957 replied to USAC_1957's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The Watanabe denotes a series of wheels Fujimi made-not just the Minilite wheel pictured above. I did an eBay search and found 2 or 3 other styles of wheels sold under the Fujimi Watanabe series. None of the Minilites, though... -

4-lug Minilite wheels???
USAC_1957 replied to USAC_1957's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Is this the same Escort kit that AMT released? I seem to remember the AMT kit was based on some ESCI tooling... -
Hi all, I was lucky enough to pick up and unbuilt kit of the first model car I built-the AMT Sunbeam Tiger (It's actually the AMT/Lesney re-release from the '70s). I've been gathering some reference pics for the build, and I've seen several cars with Minilte wheels. My question is: does anyone cast 4-lug Minilites? I have a couple of alternate ideas, but those wheels look good on that body style. TIA Happy holidays!
