Tommy Kortman Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 I just finished watching the Coke 400 from Daytona. I have to say that that was an amazing finish. the thing is...it would have been just as good without the wreck. I can honostly say that this was one of the best NASCAR Cup races I've seen all season. It was competitive. I am glad to see Kyle Busch walk away from that wreck. It was a real hard hit about 3 different times. From where I sat, it was just a racing incident. I dont think Kyle needed to throw that last block, cause I dont think Smoke had the time to get by him. WOW!!!
vizio93 Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 yea that was pretty amazing how nascar drivers can walk away from the wrecks that they get into. i'm also glad that kyle busch didn't win because i can't stand him. he is a whinny little kid that gets on everybodys nerves. i'm a junior fan at heart, but any time somebody put's kyle in the wall it makes me laugh i don't mind smoke he's been doing pretty good this season since he stopped driving a toyota.
Tommy Kortman Posted July 5, 2009 Author Posted July 5, 2009 (edited) I guess you can say I'm a Stewart fan. I was and still am a huge Earnhardt fan (Sr.) I'd like to see Jr. run better, but until he gets his head in the game and forgets about the celebrity lime light, that ain't gonna happen. Smoke can and will drive anything with wheels on it. He is a RACER! It's a shame that NASCAR put a muzzle on him. That Sport needs more colorful characters not just corporate shills. Hell, we cant even get a plastic kit of that Cr#p car they are racing now because of NASCAR's Greed and them trying to hi-jack Revell for huge licensing fees. Their greed has caused them to loose their focus. Big Bill must be rolling in his grave to see what his grandson has done to this sport. Kyle is OK. He's trying to be the bad guy. The problem is that it just doesn't fit him. If you want to be the black hat, then you cant go a whine when someone sticks you in the fence. You have to just file it away and then when they least expect it...you turn him around and send him to the infield. Edited July 5, 2009 by Tommy Kortman
vizio93 Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 yea i like tony he is a heck of a driver. i'm so glad that he went off and did his own thing. honestly i see why nascar would want a huge foreign car company to be in the series, but toyota just doesn't belong. we have done just fine for 50 years with out toyota and we can do it for another 50. i was also a Sr. fan and Jr. was doing good until he has hit this ruff patch. i have recently realized myself rooting for Mark Martin too. he is a classy driver. you never hear anything bad about him and he will always take the blame if he does something wrong. plus he's 50 years old so i have to say good for him i also agree with you on putting a muzzle on nascar. the first ever aired nascar race their was a fight (i think it was cale yarbourough, but i'm not sure) and i think that a little harsh words exchanged every now and then after the race is healthy.
old low&slo Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 yeah vizio93 your right it was cale and the allison brothers in the fight. I am a long long time jr fan and I was glad to see smoke win . I loved the end when kyle got put into the fence. did you guys see the in car camera shot from kyle's car when kasey hit kyle goin about a buck eighty ?? that was wild !! also has anyone else noticed how many empty seats there are at the races nowadays ???? there were alot last night.
vizio93 Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 yea when khane hit the back of kyle it was pretty wild. i wish kyle would have said something to tony so that tony could just deck him right in the face. i would go buy a stewart hat and wear it proudly.
James Flowers Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 Kyle blocked onetime too many and it cost that's for sure. I like most of the drivers. Carl Edwards is my wife's and my favorite driver. NASCAR say the want teams to save money but I don't see it now. If NASCAR wants too save teams money they should break up all the teams. Allow only one car owner per car, no more multiple car owners or teams. That would make each car owner with an even chance. They would have no one else to help them out like the multiple teams have now. They would have to build their own motors no one else. Then we would see some real racing. I wonder how many times we would see the same teams on top all the time then? Just a few of my thoughts.
vizio93 Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 The PUNK had it coming and it's about time he got what he deserves!!!! I knew it'ld be Smoke ( or Harvick) that delivered it. Joe Gibbs says that Baby Busch had a headache after the hit. Hopefully he's got a minor concussion, because as much of a whiny childish twerp he is, a head injury is probably the only thing that'll knock the MUCH NEEDED Sense into him. AMEN !!!!
vizio93 Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 also did you see what he did to the guitar that he won ? here is a pic of it when he got finished with it: what an idiot he did it in Nashville too. where music was practically made. what an idiot.
ewaskew Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 yea I liked the finish, it was like the old days ALMOST What was not like the old days was what was said after the race. For a driver to say he didn't want to win like that, when he did nothing wrong is a joke. Tony put the pressure on him and he messed up in a big way. Well thats racing. And back in the day BOTH drivers would have talked maybe even passed some blows but none the less it is what it is, good hard racing instead of follow the car in front of you. And yes thank God no one got hurt. As for baby Kyle Bush I like his driving style but not his attitude. If its not all about him he don't want to talk to no one poooor baby, he needs to man up instead of running out when he gets pouty Earl Miller

Sorry man but as much as I dislike Kyles whining, the first thought that went through my head when I saw himw heading straight for the wall was Earnhardt Sr. Whether I like a driver or not, I never want to see anyone injured on a racetrack. Maybe it's just the old driver in me, and I will admit to putting the chrome horn to some guys, but I had a racin' incident where another driver was hurt, and it has stuck with me to this day. (He was OK and we beat on each other again a couple of week down the road, but it was still an upsetting event). Viz, I too have heard nothing but good things about Mark Martin. The man appears to be a class act. Maybe this is the man Kyle should be looking at as a role model. Look, a lot of people hated Earnhardt. The man was an extremely talented driver who would move you when he needed to. But, when he was on the other end of some pay back, you almost never heard him complain about it publicly. AND HE NEVER WHINED!!! Old low, I did notice the empty seats last night. What I thought was a worse indicator was the empty seats I noticed at Bristol. Edited July 5, 2009 by Tommy Kortman
Tommy Kortman Posted July 5, 2009 Author Posted July 5, 2009 I used to Drive too (at Seekonk Speedway). I was the young arrogant jackass and didnt really care who else was where on the track so long as they were behind me! That was until I came up accross the nose of my teammate and wound up climbing the backstretch wall and catch fence and cartwheeling down the straightaway into 3. Ended up with a broken collar bone, cracked vertebrae, busted ribs and a dislocated scapulla (shoulder blade). Trust me I smartened up quick (and the injuries were the ONLY reason -- they HURT), and from then on looked to see who was where ANY and EVERY time I made any drastic move. Man, its ashame that we have to learn stuff the hard way. I can remember my Pop tryng to tell me things and showing me the right way to do something. I just never seemed to listen until I got much older. He used to have a saying he picked up from some of the old wrenches he met in Charlotte once. "If you think you know everything, you will never learn anything." in fact, he posted that on the wall inside our garage. ###### I miss that man.
vizio93 Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 "If you think you know everything, you will never learn anything." in fact, he posted that on the wall inside our garage. i like that quote. it really makes sense.
Harold Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 also did you see what he did to the guitar that he won ? here is a pic of it when he got finished with it: what an idiot he did it in Nashville too. where music was practically made. what an idiot. Someone should take that Les Paul and smash it over that idiot's skull- repeatedly.
Dingo Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 (edited) I like to watch the Nascar racing when it's on TV here in Australia but I can't get over the fact that they race a Toyota Camry or should I say a car that looks nothing like a Camry and call it that here in Oz the biggest motor it gets is a V6 how and the heck can Nascar get awy with putting a V8 into something that looks suspiously like one of the other cars that race over there and insult it by calling it a Toyota. Now please guys don't get me wrong I'm not knocking I'm just asking a question as I'm not really into Nascar all that much. Are those guitars for real ( like make music) or are they just a trophy that hangs on the wall. Dingo Edited July 6, 2009 by Dingo
vizio93 Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 Are those guitars for real ( like make music) or are they just a trophy that hangs on the wall. Dingo yes those guitars are real. that one was painted by Sam Bass ( who has been painting them for a very long time. check out his website, just type his name in "google"). in an interview with him he was really sad that kyle bust it up. he said that if he would have asked him before if he could smash it he would have stopped him or made up some fake one's. i agree with harold.
Harold Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 And while Kyle is being pummeled over the head with said guitar, he's not allowed to wear a helmet. I have an Epiphone Les Paul. I wanted a Les Paul for years. This pinhead has one given to him, and he destroys it. Kinda makes one want to barf.

Didn't he start this whole "lets smash our equiptment" stuff?

Yee-hah that was a good finish. I tuned in at the last 20 laps or so figuring to see the typical stuff that has become nascar. When whiny took the lead I almost turned off the TV. I've liked Smoke for years because he is a true racer, not just a driver. I was jumping out of my seat watching him hold his line against whiny, and see whiny go into the fence. headache-schemdache, wonder iffin that 'ol concussion will remedy intolerable arrogance?
