Guest Gassersgarage Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 Looking for info on kits made back in the late 60's, early 70's??? that had the option to build WILD street rides, jacked up all the way with out of scale parts sticking out of the hood, etc... Just can't seem to remember what they were, who made them, and so on. The only picture I've found of one is attached, I also remember a Super Bee??? Anything will be a great help. Thanks Robert
Bernard Kron Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 Check out Bob Black's awesome instruction sheet archive on the Drastic Plastic Model Car Club Fotki site. Just start nrowsing the American model car companies and you'll find instruction sheets, bpx art and pictures of built up show rods there. http://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc...ruction_sheets/
Crazy Ed Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 Hi There Robert The folks that made it is shown on the lower right of your image, MPC. There's one on the "Bay" 1971 chevy impala mild and wild MPC AMT Original issue Item number: 170351182395 that'll be expired most likely by the time you check it, but I found the listing by doing a FIND - MPC Mild. Hope this Helps. Ed Erbeck Jr.
george 53 Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 (edited) I haven't seen a pic, but it SOUNDS like your describing MPC's Zingers series. In 71, they "Zinger'ed" all their kits out by addin a bunch of junk like you described, out of proportion scoops,an spoilers an the like. Thank God they only did it that one year! They also had a bunch of shrunk down cars, with standard size engines an showed em at the Car Shows, also known as Zingers. Edited July 7, 2009 by george 53
Marc @ MPC Motorsports Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 Most of the MPC 1971 annuals were the "mild and wild" versions. I remember the '71 Charger and Cougar did not have the "wild" parts.
envious8420 Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 1-7119-225. 1971 CAMARO "MILD & WILD" series. 1:25. original 1971 issue. build Pro Stock or Super Sport version. twin blowers; twin parachutes; 16 trumpet pipes; injector stacks; high rise intake manifold; 396 Chevy Engine; pro stock air scoop; injector stacks. body molded in yellow. heres an article on the zingers http://treswright.vervehosting.com/ but they dont look like the camaro. from what i found, the mild & wild kits were their own series like Marc said
Guest Mustang3.8 Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 (edited) Those were made by MPC. They included the '71 Impala, Camero, Challenger, Vega, and Superbee. HTH. Edited July 7, 2009 by Mustang3.8

Guest Gassersgarage Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 Hey thanks everyone. I remember these as a teen, built the Super Bee. Now I guess I'm just having one of those flashback moments I've been building since 1968, I've built from box stock all the way up to full custom, and in the last five years I've not finished a single kit!! {I set my own standards too high} So now I'm going back to just having FUN....I just finished the first kit in five years, The Red Baron.. brought back some old memories of 1969 when I was spending the summer with the ole man...we got all the show rods Roses Dept. Store had, built at least twelve kits that summer.. Again thanks for the help. Robert
Eshaver Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 Some of YA"ALL is gonnahate me again , ( No suprise there ) but seeing the pictires of the vega is a good reason why I left the hobby from 1969 to 1987............. Ed Shaver
Marc @ MPC Motorsports Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 Those were made by MPC. They included the '71 Impala, Camero, Challenger, Vega, and Superbee. HTH. You can add the MPC 1971 Chevelle, Duster, and Demon to the list too.

Ed Shaver Not sure why anyone would hate you? Theres always room for the fun stuff next to the serious stuff, don't you think? I mean I've built some serious stuff, but its just fun to build the old crazy stuff just to get away from the serious.. Robert
