Some of the comments I have seen on here were kinda rude....more than just opinions if ya know what I mean. I have to say in most cases I either found it funny because sometimes being honest can be funny...because in some cases it takes guts to say the truth that might be hard to read.....but when it hurts someones feelings...then that person needs to lighten up and learn to take comments on the "rough side". I don't even understand why there are so many people who get hurt by comments and then never post again?....it's not like it's personal attacks? (maybe some have been?)

I look at nearly all the models here and if it's not my thing....I don't comment. If it's my thing and it's just not exactly how I would prefer it....I will at least leave a comment on something about it. If the paint is rough..I usually don't say anything about it....but if I like the color I will say I do so. If I REALLY like it...you will know. :D

Thick skin is just part of my personality guys. It takes a LOT , sometimes years to really get under my skin. I am very open to other people's views and have no problem with whatever a person has to say about my models.

If anyone here thinks the comments are harsh on this forum....try my forum and see how far you get posting stuff that doesn't fit the "guidelines" ;) The forum is really strong and it's because of the people there, the friendships and because of "what it's about". If the parts and style of the model is not pre1970....it's usually deleted without warning. The forum is just for certain types of models....so we ward off things that don't fit and try to keep the "traditional" rod and kustom modeling alive. It's nothing personal....most the members there actually build outside that frame.....but none of us share those models on the board.

Just wanted to give an example of how good it is here.....you can post ANYTHING you want if it's plastic models.....there will always be people who don't care for your model, style, attitude and other things.....so just buck up and do what you do.....don't worry about what others think of your models and have fun.....that's what this hobby is about! ;)

I've always used the same parameters when posting a pic of any of my builds that I use when deciding to take same to a contest or NNL. I could give a rat's patout what anyone else thinks of the model, its's what I think of it that counts.

In short, if I think it's good enough to show off, I do; if not, then not (you all will likely never see it!)

Hey Harry, I found the perfect example of "Political Correctness".

"Remus Reid, horse thief , sent to Montana Territorial Prison 1885, escaped 1887, robbed the Montana Flyer six times. Caught by Pinkerton detectives, convicted and hanged in 1889."

"Remus Reid was a famous cowboy in the Montana Territory. His business empire grew to include acquisition of valuable equestrian assets and intimate dealings with the Montana railroad. Beginning in 1885, he devoted two years of his life to government service, finally taking leave to resume his dealings with the railroad. In 1887, he was a key player in a vital investigation run by the renowned Pinkerton Detective Agency. In 1889, Remus passed away during an important civic function held in his honor when the platform upon which he was standing collapsed."

Wouldn't that be more like doublespeak? Perhaps gilding the lily? Padding the resume?

I think political correctness would be more like not referring to someone as an inbred spit-talking slack jawed redneck but as an American of Southern Heritage. :);) I ONLY use that as an example. :P I am absolutely certain you guys have more examples to share.

"Political Correctness" is defined as using euphemistic language that attempts to "correct" more direct but "objectionable" language. Objectionable to whom? Depends on which group you talk to... there's something that offends everyone.

A perfect example of PC language: the new practice of referring to a suspect in a criminal investigation as a "person of interest,", just so we don't possibly "offend" the bum by calling him a suspect.

Another example: Referring to a lazy student as "motivationally challenged." When I was a kid your teacher might have told your parents that you weren't working hard enough in class. These days you're "motivationally challenged."

Another example: We used to refer to handicapped people as handicapped people. Somehow the word "handicapped" became "offensive," so now we must say "Physically challenged."

The entire idea of using euphemistic double talk to avoid "offending" anyone seems pretty silly to me. Oops, I mean "rationally challenged." :)

Please refer to us inbred spit-talking slack jawed rednecks in the future as "Appalachian Americans" .

Would a guy who stole a car be guilty of "vehiclar ownership reassignment?" :)

Would a "slack-jawed yokel" now be known as a "mandibularly challenged ruralist?" ;)

Would a "clueless blonde" now be a "reality-challenged person of the fair-haired persuasion?" :P

Well now, Harry! Keep it up and "Challenged" will become archaic and offensive. I know that some are using differently abled but that hasn't gained any traction yet, thank goodness. That one is pure hokum or maybe it is negatively abled.

I like good clear use of language so some of these modern euphemisms are pretty silly. However I do find some of the people pushing back against it go too far. As far as names for different ethnic groups, I believe in calling people whatever they want to be called and that could be many things. I just hope someone calls me!

Here's a good one I heard on Family Guy: "The term redneck is a step too far, the proper term is country music star".

Whatever! I respond to Atheist Jewboy, commie pinko, and many, many other things. :P

Hmmm... it's going to be hard to offend you...

Maybe you'd like to be known as "theologically indifferent?" ;)

I guess if you post a photo of your work and I say "What in God's name were you thinking when you built that?"... it really wouldn't faze you... ;)

Hoo boy... ain't we got fun here? :P

Although I loved the example of the man whose career ended when the platform collapsed, I saw this one in an email recently and thought I would share it. It offered a great definition to PC as well.

Specifically, there is an annual contest at Texas A&M University calling for the most

appropriate definition of a contemporary term.

This year's term was "Political Correctness."

The winner wrote:

"Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority,

and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth

the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end."

The Atheist Jewboy moniker came from a conversation that my wife and I had. Her parents were faithful Catholics and mine were atheist. My mother is ethnically Jewish but her parents were not very observant. We were joking around about how to introduce me to the rest of my wife's extended family. We came up with -"I would like you to meet Andy, my atheist jewboy husband". The only funny comment we actually got was from my father in law. He said he wasn't going to wear a "beanie" at the wedding. I said good because I won't be either!

What about if the beanies had propellers?

Pretty cool...
