Corvette.Jeff Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 Some of the younger members(or you guy's that play video games) might be interested in this. I was wondering if any, how many people would be interested in doing a buildoff of the cars from the game Grand Theft Auto 4? Heres a list of the cars. http://jalopnik.com/394784/auto+inspiratio...d-theft-auto-iv The sad thing is thats not even all of the cars! theres 117 i think i read somwhere. I think it would be fun to do a buildoff of these. Becuase not only would it be fun to replicate, but it would also build your scratchbuilding skills, and custom body work skills. Would anybody be interested?
dwc43 Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 You should don one from Gran Turismo instead. Lots of real world race cars and muscle cars.
Roadkill2525 Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 Too many build-offs right now. Lions Dragstrip Drift Car Street Truck Summer of '69 Gone in 60 Seconds

KENNEDYJR Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 (edited) If you include Vice City you could count me in. Edited July 27, 2009 by KENNEDYJR
FujimiLover Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 (edited) HEY! Don't forget the Cannonball Run Build-off! I was also going to start another one, but I think there is too many at this point and nobody would have a chance to start another project for my next two ideas. Both Italian Job movies, and all the Fast and Furious movies would be cool build-off's as well. Granted, the Italian Job's would only have six cars to choose from, and the two set's of three are identical except for colors. But I would offer any car seen in either movie would be considered. Enough of my rambling, all these build-off's sound great, but let's give some space in between folks. We only have so many hours in a day, so many day's in a week, et'c. Plus, we have other lives as well. Let's keep the ideas, but save'em for when the other build-offs are finished! The list can go on and on. How about a WRC build-off? DTM? BTCC? Formula Drift? Yes, I know we already have a drift build-off, but I'm specifically refering to cars that are well known in the drift competition. Perhaps an Initial D build-off? Edited July 27, 2009 by FujimiLover
B_rad88 Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 i would be for a jgtc, dtm, d1gp, and intial D, but there are to many build offs going down right now! i will be mre than willing to enter the one i listed above, but i would like for some (at least 3) to finish before anymore build offs!
FujimiLover Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 That's why I said the ideas are great, but let's not start the build-offs till the other ones are finished. I still have not even started my Smart Drifter yet and I haven't even found a kit for my own Cannonball Run build-off. So let's keep these ideas on paper, but wait till the rest are complete. This way, it'll give everybody who wishes to participate a chance to do so without feeling crammed.

Remember folks this is just an idea running through my head! i have way to many projects on the ol' bench right now to start another one! One reason i think this would be a cool buildoff is the cars in the games are based off of production vehicles, but they look completley different. THey would also require a bit of custom body work, like on that pheonix, not only would you have to redoe the entire fascia of a firebird/camaro, but you'd also have to do the headlights, a custom hood, and motor  It would be a chance for some members that haven't tryed custom bodywork and panels a chance to tryit! and have fun doing so! But like everyones said, to many going on atm, i dont even have a kit to build the car i want to build!
dwc43 Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 I got an idea. Since you started it Emo, why don't you make a list on your first post or make a new thread and call it the build off idea thread. And every one can just make a list of build offs they want t o do. When someone adds a new idea, just edit the first post and add it to the list. As a build off is complete, you don't erase it, just mark it as finished. That way you can keep a list and keep it in order and as two or three are completed you could pic one to take it's place from the list. Whata ya think?
Foxer Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 I agree a GTA build would be cool, but too many going on right now. GTA has so many cars that are the stuff most of us here are made of! 50's customs.. low-riders, just plain cars lovers playground. They all have fake names as GTA pays no license fees, but I know a chopped 50 Merc when I see one! The changes they make to the original cars would be a great modeling challenge and keep the interest up in this. They are still very recognizable, but slight changes and parts swapping going on. The car list for this should include all GTA titles, though. GTA San Andreas was my favorite car wise. This is a link with all the vehicles from that one. Vehicles_in_GTA_San_Andreas I put forth the following from GTA San Andreas for your salivating pleasure: If the above doesn't look like Under Glass on this board, I don't know what does!
Corvette.Jeff Posted July 28, 2009 Author Posted July 28, 2009 Foxer gets it True san andreas had more of a earlier style of of cars, but this would be for all the gta games. Someone said earlier why not gran turismo, well gt is real world cars that you can modify, gta cars are based upon real world cars with subtle changes. Like my favorite car on gta4, the vigero, its based on a 69' camaro, but it has dual headlights, b pillars, custom tail lights, split mufflers in the middle of th erear bumper, i mena i could go on all day long!
