Tired of kit bashing Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 (edited) I made a outlaw hood for a 1969 Dodge super bee. Now I'm looking to cast the master. What would be the best way to make a 2part mold? Could someone walk me though this? Thanks for any information.................. Edited August 8, 2009 by Tired of kit bashing
Smart-Resins Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 Well, I have not personally done a hood yet. But I am working on a baldwin motion hood for thier "super vega" that I want to build. I will be molding and casting that. Anyways, some time ago, a good resin caster, Chris Buck shared this with me and told me at that time I could share it with others. Its a tutorial sharing his process for molding bodies. I have done something simular to this with small 2 part molds and it worked well. I am sure you could do the same thing for your hood. As for the box, you can make it out of other things as well. Just make sure whatever you use, it is sealed by one means or another. I hope it helps you. Thanks. James W Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 Looks pretty staight forward to do a vacuum formed hood instead. Just an idea.

Someone should tell Chris that he can cut up the old molds, he has that aren't any good, and use them as filler for new molds. There is no reason to hang on to molds that are not any good, when you can reuse the material.

I believe in his posting, that is why he mentioned to hold onto the old/bad molds? Jody
