Does anyone make a hood that fits?

Recommended Posts

never had a problem with the stock hood fitting right in this kit, but who knows with AMT nearing the end.

if you want hoods with scoops there is plenty available for this kit.

Dave

This is the fit of the hood that came with the kit. It's really bad....

I'm building a movie car, and it doesn't have a scoop on it. Thanks for the response Dave.

that is pretty bad!

shimming the sides with styrene will be fairly easy and is how i'd fix it. if you use something like Tenax 7R then it will go pretty quickly.

are you the one doing the '55 from "Sometimes they come back"?

Dave

I thought about adding sheet plastic to the sides. I may have to go the direction.

How did ya guess which car I was doing?

Ya must be psychic!

Ya know, I have prob 5 of those kits and never noticed anything wrong with the 3 I have built, but I did open the ones still in the box and 1 of them does have a gap of .030. These are all old kits from yrs ago not re-issues. Like Dave said, it's a simple fix with a strip of .030 plastic.

That's probably what I'll have to do. I just hate the thought of having to repair something that is so off....

Thanks Bill.

Hi Marshall.

The reason the hood doesn't fit is a lot of the tooling was based on

the old 55 Nomad. Unfortunately when the new body was made nobody

bothered to see if the carry-over Nomad hood would fit. B)

At one time there was a corrected hood in resin. I want to say it was

by Replicas and Miniatures of Maryland (not 100% sure though). They

don't have a web site, but you might look through MCM to find a phone

number.
