envious8420 Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 i'm assembling a pe flex fan, whats the glue to use to attach the blades?
Guest Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 I would say, since you are assembling the fan, and are going to paint it anyway, use crazy glue. If you are gluing the pe to other painted parts, I would use epoxy.
samm1970 Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 Epoxy would work, but I think on a fan super glue would do just as well, it really comes down to person choices. When I use PE scripts badges etc... on car bodies, I've had good luck w/ using future floor wax to attach the PE parts. Sam
chris coller Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 I use Poly-Zap on items such as that. On bodies and windows I use Tamiya X-22 acrylic clear for window rivets and scripts.
envious8420 Posted August 29, 2009 Author Posted August 29, 2009 (edited) ok, thanks guys. i figured epoxy would be the way, just didnt want to mix epoxy 6 times.(once for each blade.) and i already painted the center so ca is out. (fogging) ill post complete start to finish pics shortly. Edited August 29, 2009 by envious8420
Jon Cole Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 Jim, I think you could get away with using CA glue on painted PE parts. I always noticed that the fogging is a result of using too much CA. If a tiny drop was applied, I would think the 'fogging' would not crop up. Anybody else have comments?
jbwelda Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 if you put Future over the fogging, the fogging goes away. then you got a glossy surface if thats what you wanted, or dullcoat it which would have taken away the fogging too.

If you use a little accelerator on the superglue there is no fogging to begin with. I use superglue/accelerator on nearly every glue joint and haven't had any superglue fog in years.
