GrandpaMcGurk Posted September 27, 2009 Author Posted September 27, 2009 Carb mounting plate...... a little filler, sanding and paint & I can install the carbs.
GrandpaMcGurk Posted September 27, 2009 Author Posted September 27, 2009 Hey Rick.....just noticed the link you posted for TDR stuff, way cool! I'm going to be needing a bell housing and 4-speed for this build in 1/6th. I know you have the 727 auto available to fit this 1/6th engine but I need a hand shaker. (real hot rods don't have peanut butter drive...LOL) Think the TDR design team can pop me out their Muncie style 4-speed trans with a bellhousing to fit this 1/6th Hemi?

All you need to know is send us a wish list to "tdr.innovations@gmail.com" and we'll get to work.
GrandpaMcGurk Posted October 1, 2009 Author Posted October 1, 2009 A little more scrap plastic & test fit.......
Foxer Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 This is like watching a full size buildup for us little guys here! It IS amazing what you can do at this scale, but it's also got to be a pain when you just want to do something quick and simple.. the loss detail would be too noticeable. This is looking great.. thanks for the entertainment!

This is looking great.. thanks for the entertainment! I hear ya Mike. I tend to get frustrated building smaller scale models these days. I've seen some incredibly detailed small scale builds but being an old school greaser....large scale allows me to build them as I would do a 1:1. For instance, I'll be putting a riveted aluminum interior in this coupe...easy enough at 1/6th but doing it in an R/M 1/25th Willys would drive me nuts. Besides in 1/6th I can use regular old hand tools that fit my hands. Tons of room for wild air brush paint jobs too. As far as the entertainment goes, your more than welcome.
GrandpaMcGurk Posted October 4, 2009 Author Posted October 4, 2009 Being this is a blown maxed out street engine with giggle gas, I didn't think the stock distributor, coil, vacuum advance etc. would be up to the task, so I'm using a race unit for spark.

Now that is Just outragous, I love it. I'm building a Willy's too, mines about the size of one of your tires though.
GrandpaMcGurk Posted October 7, 2009 Author Posted October 7, 2009 Hey Nicholas, outrageous? Nah, that comes latter. I had to grin when you mentioned it was about the size of a tire for this thing. I bought a 1/25th kit.....here's where it gets funny, I'm going to paint it to match the big mutha' after coverting it into a 1/6th scale pedal car.

LOL I like it keep up the work, one question though, how long is that and how wide? Could you measure it for me?

Then you need to get a Hot Wheels Willy's, paint it the same as those two, and make it a model, of the model of the pedal car, which is a model of the 1/6th model, which is the model of a real... What was I saying??? Nice work you've done so far! I'm enjoying this!
GrandpaMcGurk Posted October 8, 2009 Author Posted October 8, 2009 Nick......do you want the measurements for the Hemi or the Willys? Both?
GrandpaMcGurk Posted October 8, 2009 Author Posted October 8, 2009 C. Hearse.....funny, but I like it. I'll grab a Hot wheels Willys, paint it, stick an antenna on it and scratch build a 1/6th controller. What a hoot.....the 1/6th car, 1/6th pedal car & 1/6th R/C car. Anybody know where I can get one small enough to put on the dash and say it's a scale model of the 1/6th scale car? LOL
Nick Winter Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 Nick......do you want the measurements for the Hemi or the Willys? Both? How's about both
GrandpaMcGurk Posted October 13, 2009 Author Posted October 13, 2009 How's about both Hang on I'll go measure them......... By the time I get the blower belt on the engine without trans.........approx. 5" long, 6" tall w/o scoop & 4 1/2 wide. The body without tires (just sitting flat on the bottom.......25" long, 9" tall & 10 1/2" wide. It's a big puppy, huh?
DaytonaTim Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 Hey Don, I think I have something that you can use behind that beast of yours. The bellhousing has never been tested behind the 1/6 th scale stuff, it was made to fit the 1/8th scale TDR 426, but it should be pretty close. Scaling it up from 1/8th and printing it out in 1/6th will just take a few clicks of the mouse. Here are some computer graphics pics of the setup. Just give me a yell when you are ready for it. Here is what it looks like behind the TDR 426 with optional blower/FI setup
GrandpaMcGurk Posted October 14, 2009 Author Posted October 14, 2009 (edited) Perfect Tim .......that's exactly what I had in mind. I have a few more bells & whistles to fab up for the engine and I'll be starting a scratch built chassis. Along with the trans I'll also be needing a 9" pumpkin. This brings up an interesting point, there's no shortage of these 1/6th metal block engines out there and there are reasonably priced. I would image that if someone wanted something a bit different as a display engine, just about any of the parts for the TDR 1/8th 426 would be pretty close to plug & play on these R/M or Testors 1/6th versions. If I ever do another, I think I'll see if I can talk you into giving the 1/8th 426 intake manifold & fuel injection set-up a growth pill. Those tall injection tubes would look sweet in 1/6th..........I'm having some fun now..... it gives me a whole new sandbox to play in. Got a pic of the fuelie set-up handy that you could pop in here to show the guys what I'm yapping about? Edited October 14, 2009 by GrandpaMcGurk
