  1. Hey guys, Tim from TDR here. Just click on this link and you will be taken to the turbo section of our website catalog. At the top of the page you will see a dimensioned picture of the tubos we offer. click on the small pic and it will expand to a large pic where you can see all the dimensions of the turbos we sell. You will just have to divide them by the scale you are working in. https://sites.google.com/site/tdrhtmllearn/home/engine-shop/generic-engine-components/turbo-chargers Lastly, we are starting a major push to get our parts down into the 1/25 scale size. The printing technology is starting to let us get down there now. I currently pushing the BBC kits down into the small scales, check them out when you get the time. look for us on Facebook. Thanks Tim TDR Innovations
  2. Just a peek at something closely related that is being worked on in the TDR Skunk Works.
  3. TDR Innovations just started offering some turbos in the smaller scales. https://sites.google.com/site/tdrhtmllearn/home/engine-shop/generic-engine-components/turbo-chargers
  4. Hey Chuck: Be sure and look at the video on our website on how to finish out this material. I say this because using the superglue method on these frames will help with strength. Here is a link to the page https://sites.google.com/site/tdrhtmllearn/home/tdr-innovations-help-page/shapeways-wsf-material-info Chassis really are one of the best areas for 3D printing. Chassis are tough to make by hand and very tough or impossible for manufacturers to injection mold. For 3D printing though it is just another part. Keep an eye out as we intend to expand into this area of modeling. Tim TDRinnovations.com
  5. Nope, that bellhousing was used on mustangs all the way up to at least Nov 25 1964. That was when my 65 Mustang was built and it had the 5 bolt bellhousing, and the 3 bolt crank shaft pulley. It also had a bunch of other 64 1/2 items too but it was a 65. Ford must have cleaning out the storeroom when they made my old stang. Keep up the good work, it is nice to see someone working up some nice old Hi-Po ford parts.
  6. What are the major body differences between the Pro Stock and the Pro Modified bodies? I know the Pro Mods have an extended front between the centerline of the front spindles to the front tip of the body and the large spoiler on the back. Are there any other differences? If the two bodies share a lot of common parts then developing a Pro Mod and Pro Stock body, from the same base car, may be possible. Also, just want to let everyone know that I will develop a "R2B2" styled chassis for this body when it is completed Tim TDR Innovations
  7. I would also like to recommend that you guys check out "tedsmodelingmarketplace.com". Ted is one of TDR's major retail sales outlets. Ted is able to buy in bulk from our Shapeways store and this can reduce the prices to you guys quite a bit on the 1/16 scale parts. So give his website a look if you get a moment. Ted also carries a lot of other products from other manufacturers that I am sure you guys will find interesting too.
  8. Hey Guys: This is Tim from TDR. Just wanted to make sure everyone knew about our new website. It is located at "TDRinnovations.com". By some of the comments above I got the feeling some were either looking at the Shapeways site or our old website. Use the address above and you will get to the new site. I think you will find it a lot easier and faster to find what you want. I don't have everything up at the new site just yet but I am working on it. The old sites are still active and there are links to the old sites toward the bottom of the home page. Thanks for the comments guys. We at TDR only have control over the quality and detail level of our parts. Unfotunately we have no control over the pricing, because we depend on other companies like Shapeways to print our parts. Maybe someday we will have our own commercial 3D printer, but until then we just do what we can do......... Happy Modeling Tim TDRinnovations.com
  9. Guys, we really need to show Brodie a little more respect for his thread. It is his thread about his build, it really is not about the accuracy of TDR's parts. If someone wants to start a separate thread discussing how TDR does its thing, the guys at TDR would be more than happy to join in. I post this comment not because I think I have some authority on MCM site (heck I don't even think I have any authority in my own house)........ but because I feel bad that a possible error on my part caused this thread to run off on some tangent subject. Let's get the thread back on Brodie's build, OK?
  10. Thanks for the kind words guys. This is my first attempt at something custom and it does not come easy to me. This model will be available very soon on our website. I am in the process of printing out a 1/32 version of it to verify the model will print out at Shapeways. Onece the 1/32 scale is printed we will offer the Stinger in all scales, from 1/32 to 1/8. Yes the wheel scoops will be available separately for anybody that wants to use them on something else.
  11. That side picture makes the tires look like they are farther toward the ends of the car than they really are. I did move the front and rear tires closer to the ends of the car some though. I wanted to get that long and low look.
  12. I just wanted to share a little experiment...... I named it the Stinger ....I did not post any of the build up pictures of this model because I was not sure I would be able to pull it off. I wanted to experiment with radically modifying an existing car body. So I started with a 1964 Corvette computer model and I started mashing and squashing it in the computer. I tapered both the front and rear ends and then I put a 3 inch chop in the top. Then I designed the front and rear wheel brake scoops to give me a nice finished look on the inside part of the wheel. Then I integrated the suspension points into scoops too. For paint I decided I wanted some wild orange color so I went to Walmart and bought some wild fingernail polish and used it. I have never shot fingernail polish before and I had to do a lot of trial and error. I wound up stripping the car twice before I got something I liked. To do the glass I just stuck some tape onto the windows and traced out the outline of the window. Then I stuck the tape on some blank decal paper I had painted black. I cut out the decals and stuck them in place. All the steps I outlined above was brand new to me.....like I said....a little experiment. Below you will find some pics. Sure would like to hear what you think about the little "Stinger" Thanks Tim TDR Innovations These are some pictures of the raw parts. The little "bumps" you see in the suspension areas are heavy guides that provide proper alignment for the suspension arms and drive shafts. The angle of these guides line up exactly with the angle of the holes in the wheel covers. So when you get all the suspension members stuck in place the wheel cover is almost perfectly alighed to where it should be.
  13. Having some of our TDR Innovations parts (Lenco tranny and U-joints) included in one of your builds Clay is an honor. Thanks Tim TDR Innovations https://sites.google.com/site/tdrinnovations/
  14. Here are some examples of the information that Dan Palatnik needs to create your dream car for you Dimensioned pictures are really important But front, side, back, and 3/4 shots are important too
  15. Hey guys: Just wanted to chime in here and tell everyone that TDR is working with Henry to develope this new 2012 Pro Mod Camaro. This project is in its very early stages but should progress quickly. Hopefully we will have it on the market before summer........Let me see Revell or Tamia do that!!!!!!! This may be a good opertunity to outline the process we go through to create these brand spanking new model bodies. Here is a basic outline of the process Step 1) Someone like you comes up with a body that you just got to have. So you contact TDR and ask....."can you make me ___________" Step 2) If it is a stock car or a very common race type car, I will send you off to a 3D modeling site like "TurboSquid.com" and tell you to search it for the car you want. If ou are unable to find it at the modeling site, the next step is to get it custom modeled for you, in the computer. That is where Dan Palatnik comes in http://www.palat.com.br/cars.htm. If you supply Dan pictures and basic dimensions he can create the computer model from scratch. Step 3) Once TDR has the computer model from either Dan or TurboSquid we can then begin our work. It can take between 10 and 15 hours of compter work to get the body ready for 3D printing. Step 4) Once TDR has completed it's work, the model is uploaded to Shapeways and it is entered into our catalog and it is ready to sell. One note about trying to have models scanned into the computer. I have done some scanned models and I have done a lot of models from Dan and Turbosquid. Hands down the models from Dan are the best, the next best are the models from TurboSquid and the worst are the scanned models. Also, Dan can model up the car of your dreams cheaper than you can get the model scanned here in the USA. So for right now.....we are on Step 2......and we wait for Dan to do his magic.
  16. We are at the start of a whole new era of scale modeling.............MAN......this is fun!!!!
  17. Dave I am not going to step all over your build topic. I just wanted to clear something up about TDR. TDR does not own any 3D printers.......... We do absolutely no printing....... All of our printing is subcontracted out. What does TDR do then??????? What we do is work up all the computer models, make them printable, get the files to the 3D printing subcontractor, work up the catalogs, and handle customer relations. So TDR does not have any control over the time it takes to print the models out, that is in the hands of the subcontractors. Lastly I wanted to summarize the time it takes to deliver the parts you order. The time varies depending upon the material that it is printed in. Here is how it shakes out 1) The "sand cast" finish material, our cheapest, takes 10 to 15 working days to ship. 2) The WSF material usually takes 10 calender days to ship out. 3) The FD and FUD material usually takes 30 days to ship out If anyone has any questions, please don't hesitate to drop me a PM or an email at TDR.Innovations@gmail.com Thanks Tim
  18. When the time comes that you want to buy it, just let me know and I will see what I can do for you. I am sure we can work something up pretty quick. Glad the rod ends worked out. I really thing they should become a "hot item" for the scratch builders. They are truely a new and unique item and are unequaled in their functionality........... because the are real, fully functional, rod ends. https://sites.google.com/site/tdrinnovations/ http://www.tdrcatalog.com/servlet/StoreFront
  19. Syd, did those rodends work out OK for you? It is nice having that little bit of "wiggle room" when putting those components together, huh?
  20. Hey Guys: I just wanted to take this chance to thank Dave for his great help. It really takes a unique mixture of talent to bring thise new parts to the modeling community. Dave has access to all this wonderful high tech racing equipment, he also has the machining background to identify key features that go into making components, and he has the drafting knolege to communicate this info to us at TDR. Dan Palatnik........the artist who created the Camero body for Dave....... well I just cannot say enough about him. He is a true professional, works for a reasonable price, he loves the old cars with all the compound curves, and he can create these wonderful bodies out of thin air!! Be sure and take a look at his webpage and you will see what I am talking about. We here at TDR have the ability to take the information generated by these guys, be it Daves hand drawings or Dan's digital masterpieces, and either digitally model the parts fromt he drawings or "flesh out" Dan's computer models so they can be printed for you guys. Then this information is uploaded to the Shapeways Store, located in the Netherlands, and made avalable for you guys to purchase and have it delivered to your door!!!!! It is mind boggling if you really think about it. These simple plastic parts have bounced between 2 states, 3 countries on 3 continents! Oh, also, I just wanted to let everybody know that after all is said and done, TDR will be offering the Camero body in all scales, from 1/43 all the way to 1/8.
  21. No problems in asking questions Casey. This rapid prototype / on demand manufacturing process is always changing and cutting edge stuff so it is easy to get confused. TDR actually has no 3D printers. What we do have are a couple of computer modelers and a couple of plastic/fiberglass modelers. We are operating on a shoestring budget and frankly we just don't make enough money to afford a $20,000 to $100,000 3d printer.......but........we can leverage those that can afford these printers if we could just find someone that offered printing at a fair price!! About 3 years ago we found a person doing rapid prototype printing that was not gouging his customers. We started using his services to print our computer designs and offered them for sale to the public. This is the first material that we offered, the one with the "sand cast" finish to it. This "sand cast" material is still being offered though our old catalog at:http://www.tdrcatalog.com/servlet/StoreFront . This material is still by far our most inexpensive material and gives the modeler the chance to purchase large, unique, kits that they just cannot get anywhere else. Now, fast forward to about July of this 2010 year. We were experimenting with some of the Shapeways materials. We where testing the various materials and seeing what benefits and drawbacks they had for use as a modeling material. After this we decided to offer the Roadster kit in the Shapeways materials using the WSF / Alumide materials and our old "sand cast" materials. We elected to use the materials that provided the best strength/finish characteristics and cost benefits. Using these material we started developing the Roadster that Syd assembled here on this website for everyone. The WSF / alumide materials had some good characteristics but there was still work necessary for finishing the surface and getting it to a model quality surface. Now, fast forward to about July of this year. Shapeways started offering a "game changer" material!!! This is the FUD and FD materials. Although this material was fairly expensive, the surface finish was OUTSTANDING !!!!!!! Not only that, the details it could produce were beyond belief!! We could now produce boltholes that were .020" in diam and just as clean and sharp as could be. Just to put it in perspective, .020" is about the width of 2 human hairs. Now, this material is just too expensive to just blindly offer our engine kits in but we did see a great opportunity to offer some of our small high detail and highly visible 1/8 scale parts in this material. So that is what we started doing. While developing our FD and FUD models for our 1/8 scale inventory we discovered that these new material would let us take many of our parts down to the 1/16 scale with just a little bit of tweaking and that we could offer bodies all the way down to 1/43 scale!! So for the past couple of months we have been working on taking many of our kits down in scale. It has been a vary busy time for us, here at TDR. So things have been rapidly changing, here at TDR. The new material we offer rival that of injection molded plastics and we are pushing into the smaller scales too. So please go to our new store at https://sites.google.com/site/tdrinnovations/ and find something that you could use that is fairly cheap. I would recommend the 1/8 scale nuts/bolts or the functional rodends. Order them up in the new FD or FUD materials and see if the surface finish will suit your needs. I really think you will be pleasantly surprised!! Tim
  22. We have our fingers in a lot of pies right now. Getting help from people like Dave and Ken is a god send to us. We get a lot of people asking can we make this or can we make that. We try to help out as much as we can. It really helps when somebody shows up with blueprints, that makes the job a lot easier!!! That is what Dave and Ken have done. They showed up with blueprints in hand, of an interesting subject, and we are trying to help out as much as possible. I recently started working on my model for the Toledo model show next Oct. Not sure what scale I will build it in but here are a few concept pics. I call it "Stingrod"
  23. Thanks for all the good words guys. It makes those long hours at the keyboard worth it. I don't know ever everybody has seen them yet, but I worked up some videos showing how to finish and prep these new material from Shapeways. Here is how you prep the FUD and FD materials https://sites.google.com/site/tdrinnovations/m-preparing-our-parts-for-paint/fd-and-fud-materials Here is how you prep the WSF material https://sites.google.com/site/tdrinnovations/m-preparing-our-parts-for-paint/finishing-wsf-material The links to the videos are at the end of the page.... So what do you guys think? Do I have a future as a "hand model"???!!! LOL... no, probably not.
  24. Hey Guys: TDR is still here and growing by leaps and bounds. With the introduction of the new materials available from our Shapeways manufacturer we have been expanding our offerings into the 1/12 and 1/16 scales. Here is a link to our new "Super Store" that we are in the process of developing: https://sites.google...tdrinnovations/ We currently have almost 200 kits, many of them new, offered in this new store. We are also expanding into the 1/24 through 1/43 scales with our bodies kits also Of coarse we still have our old catalog website at: http://TDRcatalog.com I have been busy merging our Shapeways store and our "TDRcatalog" stores. Basically I have been doing a lot of behind the scenes type work.... So please bookmark our new catalog site because ultimately it will be the one stop shopping location for all of our TDR Products. Now as far as not seeing any TDR activity........lol......well I look at the first page of the listings in the "The Big Boys" forum here.....and I count 3 builds that I know are using our parts!! We may not be supplying complete kits but we supply a lot of those smaller detail parts that can help you take your model to the next level. So we are still here and making lots of new parts for you modelers!! Tim
  25. Hey guys, thanks for the good words. Comp, you make it easy to do these parts, the detailed blueprints you supply go a long way to making parts become a reality via rapid prototyping. Thank you Your engine is coming along nice, it looks like you should be able to start it up!! Here is a link to our new Shapeways store http://www.shapeways...hops/tdrcatalog If you look on the right hand side of the new Shapeways store you will see numerous shops, the nitrous kits are in the "performance shop". You will notice that I changed some stuff on the nitrous kits. The parts that Comp have are the test parts and I learned some stuff from the test. Namely, I have to make it so you can get the support material out of the bottle. Comp you will see I drilled a hole in the bottom of one bottle to try and get out the support material, you may want to finish that. The new redesigned kits will not have this problem as the bottles are multi piece. Just follow the links in the 1/8 scale nitrous kit text to find the 1/12 and 1/16 nitrous kits We are in the process of creating our own website to act as a one stop shop for all of our parts, that is why I have been absent lately. As things develop I will let people know, it just takes time.....and believe it or not this is a part time job for me........lol Thanks
