LVZ2881 Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 What year is this kit supposed to represent?? and if you could direct me to some exterior and interior reference pics it would be much appreciated!!!!
Jon Cole Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 I just did a quick Google search on Porsche 964. You can check it out: B)http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porsche_964 With all the numeric designations that Porsche (amongst others) used for model ID's, it's enough for another migrane!
CAL Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 (edited) 1994 RSR. There was maybe 100 produced and they were probably all different. It was basically a stripped out race ready car from the factory. I am not sure what is in the kit though. Edited September 11, 2009 by CAL
B_rad88 Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 (edited) wow, thats a nice kit! does it have engine detail? i was thinking of getting it! and by just the back bumper, it is the late 964! with the 3.0l or the 3.3l flat-6 air cooled engine! one of the best engines ever! quick question? can you take a pic of the body? that would be more heplful! bu judging from the box it is a 1994 RSR! The Creative Explorer Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 At the beginning of the 90's Porsche launched the one Porsche enthusiasts have waited for so long, a new RS, the 964. It happens to be much efficient, and the enthusiasts see in the 964 RS a great successor to the 1973 2.7 RS. At the same time, the rebirth of the GT championship lead Porsche to offer a racing version of the RS that could compete in GT FIA races. This is the 964 RSR, racing version of the 964 RS, and produced at only 51 units. It is equipped with wide fenders, a specific rear wing, a racing interior, a racing suspension, Turbo S brakes, and a new engine that comes from the RS 3,6 L but rebored to 3,8 L and giving 340 HP. The car only weights 1120 Kg. The 964 RSR has won on almost every tracks of the world in the GT class. It is a genuine race car, produced in very limited quantity by the factory. As a consequence, having the opportunity to purchase a new 964 RSR today is truly exceptional.

I am curious too. Besides the box saying it's a RSR, it has the RSR rear spoiler. If indeed it is an RSR it would have had a 3.8, which there would have been a little insert in the side of the spoiler like the early GT2 GT3 cars that would been imbossed with a "3.8L" I bet that it's just a repop of the LeMans 94 RSR, which isn't real accurate for a RSR. It might have even been an RS. I don't remember. Nevertheless it was the precursor to the "GT" series car launched in 95 Edited September 11, 2009 by CAL
LVZ2881 Posted September 11, 2009 Author Posted September 11, 2009 No engine, very minimal chassis and interior detail....body looks nice....its going to be a quick builder.
CAL Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 Found them with pics inside the boxes. It's a repop of the 1994 RSR LeMans FAT TURBO car, which isn't accurate for an RSR.
BradR Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 I'm building a Fujimi Enthusiast series 911 Turbo Cab atm and the detail is a total overkill (pistons in the engine??!!) Anyway, apart from silly things like that, it looks like it's going to be a challenge - only my second model since coming back to the hobby after 25 years!! cheers, bj
jbwelda Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 (edited) >the detail is a total overkill (pistons in the engine??!!) thats actually useful: i think its designed so you can hang the partially assembled motor on the engine stand from the 356 enthusiast series, maybe the engine stand also comes with that 911 kit? then you can have your pistons hanging out of the case on the stand...in the fujimi garage with the fujimi tools!
