Modelmartin
That is really cool looking. I love the wheels. VW has been doing stuff like that for a while. The SMVW (super mileage) got something like 1200 MPG with a 90 pound woman driving it with basically a deisel big enough for an R/C plane! The ARVW (aerodynamic research) was a little more serious. It went well over 200 MPH and got something like 25 MPG at the time, It got crazy good mileage under 150 MPH!
Guest Gramps-xrds
WOW that's better than my 95 Caddy. But I think I'll keep the Caddy. It's only been getting 17 to 22 in town and 30 to 37 highway and I'm not riding in a roller skate.
vizio93
whew. that caddy's gettin' better mileage that my moms 98' camaro is gettin'. last time i checked she was gettin' 10- 12 mpg!!!

EPA numbers (revised downward to more realistically reflect real-world driving conditions): 1995 Cadillac DeVille 8 cyl, 4.6 L, Automatic 4-spd, City:15 Highway:23 1995 Cadillac DeVille 8 cyl, 4.9 L, Automatic 4-spd, City:14 Highway:24 1995 Cadillac Fleetwood 8 cyl, 5.7 L, Automatic 4-spd, City:15 Highway:

FujimiLover
Sorry guy's. My Insight's got you beat on MPG. In the city I get anywhere from 46-55 MPG. Highway anywhere from 55-70 MPG depending on how I drive the car. Of coarse I tend to push it and "play" with the car so I get less than I could. It is a fun little car to drive. Not fast, not quick, but very aerodynamically slippery it just want's to go! It's very hard to keep this car at the speed limit!
Harry P.
You guys really like to exaggerate, don't you? According to fueleconomy.gov, a 2010 Insight gets 40 mpg city, 43 mpg highway. If yours is older than 2010 it probably gets even less...

Harry P.
I think your on-board computer is lying to you. If a '95 Caddy made 30-35 mpg it would have been headline news. A brand-new Caddy, with 15 years of engineering advancements on your '95 can't even make that kind of mileage. How do you figure that they could make a Caddy get 30 mpg in 1995, but they can't do it now?
Guest Gramps-xrds
Oh and Harry, I also have an 89 caddy with a single throttle body that has always gotten 29/31 on the highway. Maybe it makes gas toooooo.

Harry P.
I'm not the authority... I'm just posting EPA numbers. And EPA numbers have historically been higher than the real world numbers, so actual mileage is actually less than the EPA estimates (they have recently revised their testing procedures to more accurately reflect real-world conditions). You can't seriously expect us to believe that a 15 year old Cadillac gets better mileage than a brand-new one? Are you saying that technology has gone backwards the last 15 years? Come on, man, get real...
Guest Gramps-xrds
Harry I really don't care what you believe. Or what the EPA ratings are. All I know is I have 2 caddys an 89 and 95 and they both will get 29/30+ on the highway and the computers can't be broke on both of them. So it makes no difference to me what you believe..........................Sorry.

Harry P.
I still say there's no '95 Cadillac that gets 30-37 mpg highway when the Cadillacs of today don't get nearly that much... I think that on-board computer is a little overly optimistic.
charlie8575
Speaking from experience of several friends with front-drive Cadillacs, I know they're capable of excellent gas mileage. 27-30 miles a gallon is reasonable; when people neglect the car or drive them like idiots, they get crappy mileage, but that could be anything. I had a 1994 Buick Le Sabre that was capable of 33 on the highway. That 3800 is one of the best engines GM ever came up with. Although I certainly wouldn't mind a Northstar-powered Cadillac or an Olds Aurora. Charlie Larkin
