Hi Ron

Nice "BRING BACK" on a beautiful car ;)

Been watchin' your thread. Coming along very nicely ;) .

A few years ago a friend gave me a baskit case kit of a '60 Buick.

The scripts were gone, as was the roof, hood, bumpers, grill, etc. You get the picture.

Anyway, Modelhaus supplied all that I needed, and I finished it up fairly quickly as the friend who gave it to me was moving to Arizona, and I wanted it done so he could see it before he left.

Never happy with not really finishing it the way I wanted it, I have taken it apart after collecting the parts I felt I needed to redo it.

Don't want to "HI-JACK YOUR THREAD", just wanted to share my project with you, as I won't be doing this on a thread of it's own.

Here's how it looked done the first time.

And here she is in progress and pieces.

Here's all the pieces I collected. I even have the right engine now, and other chrome pieces like the door handles, windshiels wipers, etc.

Thanks for letting me share it with you :D - dave

Now, that looks marvelous Dave!!!!

I decided to do some further work on the Buick today. I kind of went overboard, as I removed the door handles and scribed in mouldings around the fins and the upper front doors. I may two-tone the car now. The model was meant to be just a clean-up and re-paint, but now, I have re-did the body work.

I'll prime it tomorrow so I can see how much more work I have to do.

This is a great build thread! I, too, have a 1960 Buick (albeit Hardtop) that was/is a former glue bomb. When I got it the model was still in the original 1960 Buick 5560 Hard Top box that AMT Corporation put out when they were at 21535 Groesbeck Hwy in East Detroit, MI. The old 3in1 orange and green box. Have removed a ton of spray bomb paint that really etched some of the plastic and have been smoothing the body and lines and rescribing. It will have to be a Custom B)B);) now that I've "lowered the fins" just a tad. The model had the engine, which was a real mess in itself and I managed to save it though I need to find the valve covers or suitable replacements.

Where did you find the replacement door handles, wipers, etc.?

The reissue AMT '62 Electra 225 will give you the complete engine. Any Revell 1959 or 1960 Chevrolet will give you the door handles and windshield wipers I believe. I haven't sourced the handles yet.

I'm watching this one Ron. I got to see this close up and it's gonna be a beaut.

Paint color will be critical. I'm certain you'll stay period with it.

Stay at that bench Ron!!

Well, I got a little done to the 'ol gal the last couple of days. Thursday, I removed the moulded in door handles in order to do separate handles, as well as defining the mouldings on the upper doors and fins, re-scribing the door and trunk lines.

I sourced the actual tire and wheel package I intend to use on the model, and I added a wash to bring them out.

It's ready for paint, so that I can work over the interior.
