Chariots of Fire Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 Does anyone have any info on 6 cylinder Hercules truck engines of the 1940's? I'm getting started on a Class 155 Army Air Force crash rig that had that type of engine. It also has a Continental engine on the rear to power a Hale fire pump. The pump I can do but the engine part I don't have any information for.
cargostar Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 Have you checked here? http://www.herculesengines.com/hercules/pic_links.html
Chariots of Fire Posted September 24, 2009 Author Posted September 24, 2009 Have you checked here? http://www.herculesengines.com/hercules/pic_links.html I think I did, Dave but I'll look at it again.
Aaronw Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 The US halftracks used a Hercules 6 cylinder engine. Someone made a large scale halftrack (1/16 I believe) Dragon or Trumpeter, maybe both. I think one of the recent 1/35 halftracks also included a motor. The instructions might provide a source of some good detail drawing, or you might be able to use the kit parts to scale up or down. I have a few pics of a halftrack motor but they are not very good since it was still in the halftrack. If they would be any help I can find them.
Chariots of Fire Posted October 1, 2009 Author Posted October 1, 2009 Thanks, Aaron! I'll look into that.
