Well my first WIP here is going to be a Civic for a friend at work as a replica of his car.It is a Fujimi kit

The usual box top..

sq2vmf.jpg

The kerbside shell,it will be standard with the exception of opening up the hood.

The wheels are close enough to his 1:1 and Chris is happy with them.

The interior sprue,I was glad to see a RHD dashboard as this saves me the bother of making one.

The floor and suspension ect.

The general idea is to build a replica,so it will be lowered a bit and the hood sitting high at the rear.

Yea it's a kerbside kit,a pretty simple kit tbh.

The hood has been cut away from the shell in order that the rear end can be raised up.

Then I added a strip each side for the hood to sit on,I am also thinning down the sides of the hood so it looks better.

As the car that Chris owned was lowered I found a neat way to lower the rear end, just cut the suspension arms off the crossmember and fit as needed.

The front suspension will be the same...

Last job of the day was to make styrene backs for the seats.

Cant go any further until Chris mails a few ref pics....

Well I have loads of ref pics now and will get stuck in in the morning,Chris has supplied the correct colour rattle can.Looking forward to this. :)

More progress on the Civic. The windshield scuttle panel has been extended in order to disguise the lack of engine..

Then the front suspension top mounts were shave down to lower the suspension,so I had to make a couple of spacers for the bottom arms.

Next the rear suspension arms were cut away from the subframe, spacers were added to the subframe and the arms repositioned.

Using the floorpan as a jig while the joints set.

The sunroof has been cut out,a few mold lines on the bumpers cleaned up and some primer layed on.

The floorpan, suspension parts and inner tub have been sprayed satin black. While the wheels have been stripped and sprayed Peugeot cossack grey with a silver rim.I will need to adjust the rear suspension height as it sits too low...

I asked Chris about the interior, and he said 'uhh black' so black it is LOL

The underside is finished too, pretty basic tbh.

Then it was on to the wheels, here are the real ones..

And the kit items, the chrome was stripped and they were sprayed Peugeot cossack grey. Then the silver rim was brushed on.The real wheels have 6 spokes while the kit items have 5..But Chris is happy enough with this.

The shell was given two coats of Honda vogue silver, followed by two coats of lacquer. How she looks now.

Chris wants yellow foglights,so I mixed some yellow food colouring with Future and brushed it onto the insides of the lens.

The finished lights.

The grille was given a black food colouring/Future wash, and the headlights painted grey as per Chris's request.

Then the glass was fitted,I found a new way of doing this...Recently I found a roll of double sided tape that is as thin as a sheet of paper!

I will be using this again as it eliminated the risk of glue smears on the glass.

And how the shell looks at the moment.

Cheers George. :D Interesting challenge for me...Building a 1:1 replica, having said that..I do have a replica of my old mini.Thinks it might be posted soon.LOL

I like the food coloring idea for the lenses. I may try that myself for a few cars I'm doing. Nice build.

Charlie Larkin

Go for it Charlie,it also works nicely over kit 'chrome' lots of potential especialy if you use an airbrush.Which I dont LOL
