I want to create a replica/vision of my 1:1 and the girlfriend calls it Oscar... As far as the plans: Hand rubbed black with a very subtle green candy (do subtle and candy go in the same sentence?) dark green guts (leather) '58 Impala dash no hood sides Nailhead engine Studebaker President hupcaps modified to have chrome spiders Does anyone know where I can get spyder lugnut caps in 1:24? rumble seat lots of louvers creme and dark green pinstriping I am starting with the so far super crappy AMT kit. There is enough flash to fill the freakin trash can and the door panels have every single thing molded into them. That will not work for opening doors! I hate how the body and the roof go together and the roof is warped anyway, so I ordered a chopped body from Jimmy Flintstone. I have the wheel covers, engine and brakes on order from The Parts Box so that should be here soon. Hopefully I can find some photoetch for the grill, door handles, that sorta thing. In case you are not famaliar with the motor here are a few pictures: I absolutely love the '36 built by Cole Foster for the dude from Metallica so that is where a lot of the influence will come from: Also, this red and black '36 is freakin awesome so I will be taking some cues from that: What it boils down to is a custom with a lot of hot rod touches... sort of a sleeper... a cruiser and a bruiser you could say Here are the mockup pictures thus far: Edited October 10, 2009 by remingtonbox

93Z34 Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 Nice insoriation, that's for sure. I love the sweeping lines of the "Metallica" '36 Ford along the rear fenders. It eeally gives that car a whole different attitude. You should have one sweet looking project when it's done.

As far as the modifications, I am trying to do things that are entirely possible in the real world. This is going to be the 3D guide for the 1:1 so everything needs to be possible. Please add suggestions, comments, criticism, whatever! Since this is going to be a kustom, I went out in the ol' boneyard and drug in a '58 Impala dash for surgery. Of course, since the '36 isn't one of those chrome '50s barges, I had to section the dash immensely. The dash fit is still a little dodgy, but I think if I continue it on through the doors, it will look pretty righteous. Since the Impala is so freakin wide, the first time I sectioned the dash, the steering wheel would have been in the middle of the car, that will not work so I cut off the column and I think I am going to design a column drop somewhere more realistic Since the dash was turning out so good, I figured we might as well add an Impala seat as well, adds to the kustom look, one of the benefits to the Impala seat is the 50/50 arrangement, so the backs can be folded down separately, yet it still has the traditional look of a bench seat. We are going to put some tuck and roll in the middle so that should look pretty good. I need some '36 Ford horn covers for the door panels, does anyone have a spare set? Also, does anyone know what size the horn covers are on the 1:1? Mine has no front clip so I cannot measure. Lastly, in a word, my pictures suck! Does anyone have any good photo tips?

I finally figured out that the '66 AMT Buick Riviera comes with a Nailhead motor so we (yes, I do have a frog in my pocket ) pulled it from that kit, threw 'er together with a little blu-tack and here is the result. I am still waiting on the resin body that I ordered to be delivered so I started screwing with some pinstriping decals. I am not totally sold on them, what do you all think?

This nailhead and I are in the midst of one hell of a battle to get it shoehorned where a spindly flathead fit before. My JF body came in today and I am super happy with it, now that the preliminary clean up is done, this ol girl is looking pretty ###### sinister... There is one pretty ###### major problem however and it makes me madder than a gay dude with tonsillitis on Valentine's Day, the deck lid sits about 2" scale in the deck lid hole... not good... we will see what to do about that. Aside from that problem in this picture, this baby looks positively bitchin! Makes me want to drop the xacto knife and make a beeline for the ol garage A side profile chop educates everyone on how amazing a chopped coupe looks. I am not sure the exact amount of the chop... does anyone know what JF had in mind? The only problem I have with this project so far (###### I sound bitchy) is the wheels and tires, they look almost cartoony in the side profile shot. There are a few fitment problems e.g. lining up the hood and cowl, the body sits a little proud of where I would like it, but for $10 I am am stoked! This thing is so photogenic... I am going to leave you with this one last picture... Wait a minute, is that a '53 Ford chopped, decked, shaved and shortened in the background? How in the hell did that thing sneak onto my photo set
geetee66 Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 This is looking good. Did you ever get around to finishing it? Give us thew link to the finished pics, if you completed the build, because I'm doing one of these right now. I also took my cues from that black/red custom.
Ramfins59 Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 You mentioned that you were looking for wheel spyders... I believe that The Modelhaus makes those... You also said that you wanted a photo-etched grille for this '36... You can get that from Model Car Garage... Hope this helps.
