Mike Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 After a hard life in dad's trees, junior rescued the family farm truck. With a new set of wide whites, chrome rims, and a shiny new license plate (not to mention a lot of TLC for the engine), it's ready to hit the road. Sure the gas cap got lost and the wood bed rotted and had to be replaced with some pole-barn siding, but it's functional right?
Guest Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 Amazing. You guys that make plastic look like rusted metal are something else! Great job!
Foxer Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 There's a lot of good years left in that puppy! Looks grand!
JayC Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 Great Job! So, is Junior going to do a frame-off restoration?
randx0 Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 looks great ,how'd you do the seats? I also like the back story.
93Z34 Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 For a rusted out truck, she sure looks beautiful! You did a great job weathering that old girl, that's for sure. you got the perfect effect with your efforts, that's for sure.
Reeves Racing Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 Nice work on the weathering. That is one straight old rusted truck!!! A scottbrite pad and a buffer and you might have it looking brand new...
Mike Posted November 27, 2009 Author Posted November 27, 2009 looks great ,how'd you do the seats? I also like the back story. Sorry for the late reply. The seats were done with an Xacto knife. I just made random slashes across everything, and "banana pealed" a couple spots to curl up the plastic and insert the cotton stuffing for effect. Thank you for the compliments guys.

Before: (AMT SF+ '50 Chevy snap kit molded in orange) After: Terry
RodneyBad Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 It may look bet but it's got a good body still. Nice weathering. I'd call that a good Barn Find. New tires and brakes and it's good to go.
Guest Gramps-xrds Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 Another great job Mike. Great detail and rust.
VW Dave Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 As a fan of weathering models, I had to get a closer look....and I like what I see. Nice job!!
sdrodder Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 great weathering. Love it. Keep up the good work.
ale8oneboy Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 Like someone else asked. Is Junior doing a frame off restro? Would be interesting to hear the rest of the story. Nice rust.
Mike Posted November 30, 2009 Author Posted November 30, 2009 Like someone else asked. Is Junior doing a frame off restro? Would be interesting to hear the rest of the story. Nice rust. Yeah, I do have another '50 Chevy in my stash to potentially do the "fully restored version" at some point. I have thought about it considerably. I would need a 79 Camaro kit for the front sub frame which I haven't bought yet. When I get inspired to do it, I'll make it happen. I just need the rest of the story fill in my brain to trigger it.
