Reeves Racing Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 I got kick out of this kit.... a small block Chevy in a "Ford" race car. I can hear the marketing guys at Monogram now "Oh it's okay... nobody will notice."
hot-wheels Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 Cool build ! a small block Chevy in a "Ford" race car Reminds me of a recent build of mine with Goodyears on the chassis & Bridgstone logos on the body. No one has called me out on it yet.
dimaxion Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 somewhere at some point there was an article in SAE on "correcting" the engine issue in this kit using some Ford Nascar parts. it's quite possible that Drew Hierwarter wrote that too. very cool build, small block Ford or not! Dave I did too notice and surgicly removed the "Also Ran" and placed in a pile . I then stole another 1/24 real Fo Mo Co powerplant . There were a couple of other issues to finish this one . You made it just right . Thank you for sharing
roadhawg Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 (edited) Nice looking sprint car! I've always liked that one. If it'll make ya feel any better, the Revell SCCA Trans Am Camaros have Ford engines with Chevy valve covers! Edited October 8, 2009 by roadhawg

This is true. It was a number of years ago. The basic engine came from a Monogram NASCAR Ford kit. here's a photo of the model.
slowbird Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Nice job on the sprint car. My dad had that kit, but he never finished it. Nice looking sprint car! I've always liked that one. If it'll make ya feel any better, the Revell SCCA Trans Am Camaros have Ford engines with Chevy valve covers! It's amazing how much they re-used from the 80's IMSA Mustang kit for the Camaro.
angrydawg Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 (edited) The car actually ran both motors. Edited May 23, 2011 by angrydawg
