kerc Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 (edited) This is my current project. Unchopped Tall-T body, scratchbuilt chassis (it has already undergone a few mods since the pics), with "recycled" motor and wheel/tire combo from another old built kit I had (that is undergoing restoration)...The idea is to get this baby as low to the ground as I can... Raul_Perez Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 The engine work looks really nice!! It's interesting to see the tall T body channeled over the frame...most of the ones you see are chopped... Thanks for sharing,
torinobradley Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 Looking great so far. That motor will bring that phone booth to life! I have a simular idea for mine so I will be paying attention to this thread.

Mad Slammer Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 That's SHAQ's T. . . That's why it ain't CHOPPED. . . :P
kerc Posted October 19, 2009 Author Posted October 19, 2009 Okay guys, made some progress Friday night. Finished scratchbuilding the rear suspension, torque tube, located the engine, and I'm halfway through the front suspension. Pics show 95% real stance of the car when finished...I'm liking it. Had to flip the front spring to make it reaaaally low. I still don't know what color to paint it. Suggestions?
made007 Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 i hope its gonna be ready for november 8, i wanna see it in person
kerc Posted November 4, 2009 Author Posted November 4, 2009 Finally got to do some stuff on this build, basically the floorpan. I tried unsuccessfully to build a rounded transmission tunnel, so after a few tries I did this...In a way, it fits the project better. It still needs to be puttied and sanded, and I might add a few thin strips to be bottom to simulate a corrugated pan. Also, I'm considering using that flat area on top of the tunnel as the instument panel...Put a few gauges on there... It's tight in there!

Only 2 coments, I think you better put an electric fan rather than the stock piece. . .and the front suspension, maybe better if you used a suicide setup, step the chasi up and mount the spring in front of the radiator. Hope this pics help. . .

Mad Slammer Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 The radiator would have to be too tall for the look. It's goin to be taller than the cowl, and maybe the winshield. . .
Raul_Perez Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 ... I tried unsuccessfully to build a rounded transmission tunnel, so after a few tries I did this...In a way, it fits the project better... This is coming together very nicely. For a rounded tranny tunnel, I've used the thin-wall (schedule 40) 3/4" or 1" diameter sprinkler pipe. It works really well and either of the two sizes is usually big enough for 1:25th scale. You can usually pick up a short section at your local HW store. Later,
kerc Posted November 5, 2009 Author Posted November 5, 2009 Thanks for the tip, Raul! Brief update: Did some work at lunch time here at work and made the rear "firewall" and deck...It looks crooked on the body pic, but it's just because it was a quick mock-up. Modeling at the office? Yep. Baby wipe boxes are one of the most useful things around: I even store my models in them, padded with paper towels!
kerc Posted November 8, 2009 Author Posted November 8, 2009 Okay, did some more work today...Might do some more later but I gotta do some stuff around the house. I have the front suspension almost finished...After thinking how I was going to attach the front wheels, I went ahead and made the front wheels poseable! The steering link is not to scale in the pics; it's a temporary thing to keep them parallel. I drilled the sides of the chassis and hung the front rods from there. Finally, for the interior, I shortened a Lindberg 1934 Ford pickup bench seat. I might do the inner door panels in a few hours... It moves! Interior...
Rudy Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 I love it!!!!!!! Maybe I missed it, where did that awesome engine come from?!!! The detail work is amazing I love that you left it unchopped, just chanelled it! Rudy
Harry P. Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 The engine work looks really nice!! It's interesting to see the tall T body channeled over the frame...most of the ones you see are chopped... Well, then it wouldn't be a "tall T," now, would it?
Oldboychas Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 Ssssssssssssssssshi# !! Irealy like what you're going. Keep it coming. Charlie
torinobradley Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 Pretty interesting so far! I'm a big fan of posable steering on these type cars and am intrigued by your suspension setup. Needless to say, still watching this build...
gilsdropshop1 Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 wow! this is going to be one clean "T" with som clean engine detail and frame keep pics coming.
