Jordan White Posted October 25, 2009 Posted October 25, 2009 (edited) This will be the thread for my slow but ongoing project. I plan on rebuilding my Monogram F350 into a street-truck with plenty of custom work, and building a matching boat/trailer to go with. Since I'm currently in college, I won't have a chance to work on the F350 until winter break, but I have gotten a start on the boat and trailer (which were obtained in a trade with member route66modeler). To begin, I decided to rid of the horrible excuse of a boat trailer and build my own using 1/4" x 3/16" rectangle tubing, as well as parts of the original trailer. Here are some pictures of what I built up the past couple days (don't mind the grainy pics, I had to use my phone to take pictures). As you can see, I reused the tongue, box base, fenders, boat holder...things, lights, and the axle assembly. Enjoy! Edited June 9, 2010 by YJIslander
carchub Posted October 25, 2009 Posted October 25, 2009 Wow, it looks great, and don't worry about your pics, they aren't the worst out there, as mine are really bad =D Can't wait to see more.
Space Cowboy Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 Hey winter break is coming fast and what you have done is looking great..
Jordan White Posted October 26, 2009 Author Posted October 26, 2009 Thanks! It was my first major scratch built piece, and I'm certainly satisfied with the results. You're right though, winter break is coming fast! Already 2 months down and only 2 more to go.
Nick Winter Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 I think this should be a cool project. I like building trailers of all kinds personally. Yeah I've been busy too, I've got this week off though, only to comeback and have my birthday.
Jordan White Posted November 2, 2009 Author Posted November 2, 2009 Thanks for the bump, great timing! Here's some pics of the painted trailer and boat. Eventually I'll be flocking the carpet gray, so it won't look so cheesy haha (no pun intended). I'll be putting on the blue stripes on the boat that came with the kit as well.

No problem Jordan, ###### that's a bright set of Colors. But it looks good on it.
Jordan White Posted November 2, 2009 Author Posted November 2, 2009 Haha yeah I was surprised how bright they came out, but it should look better once I get everything else painted on it. Of course now you can see what the general color scheme will be for this project (though the truck will also have plenty of BMF parts).
Jordan White Posted November 9, 2009 Author Posted November 9, 2009 Got some more work done this weekend. Started off by painting the interior, hull bolsters, and inner fenders with gray primer to simulate carpeting (since I didn't feel like dealing with flocking haha). Then I Painted the lights on the trailer and got the wheels put on. And I added a few parts to the boat as well, such as the trolling motor, gauge cluster, steering wheel, and throttle control.
Jordan White Posted November 9, 2009 Author Posted November 9, 2009 Sounds cool! I had before built up the red version (has 2 windshields and a wrap-around bench up front) and am now building up the blue version (single windshield). My concept for this boat is a bass boat built up to look like a custom speed boat. Well that, and match the paintjob I have planned for the truck later on. Oh, and it is quite fun! It would be nice if they would make more boat/trailer kits of the pleasure craft/speed boat variety.
Custom Hearse Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 Looks good Jordan! You did an awesome job on the scratchbuilt trailer!!! Looking forward to seeing more of this!
Jordan White Posted November 9, 2009 Author Posted November 9, 2009 Thanks! It was quite the experience since it was my first time scratchbuilding something large and intricate. I was even surprised how well it turned out!
Jordan White Posted November 15, 2009 Author Posted November 15, 2009 Alright, time for another quick weekend update! Added some decals, and installed the depth finder and windshield on the console.
Jordan White Posted December 6, 2009 Author Posted December 6, 2009 Well I was finally able to do a little more on the boat. I installed the outboard!
Jordan White Posted January 3, 2010 Author Posted January 3, 2010 Well I was finally able to complete the boat and trailer! I installed a spare wheel and tire, installed the bow support/winch from the Waverider kit, put on the brightwork on the boat, and installed the wiring to the engine. I also stripped the paint off my F-350 kit, and have started spray painting the chassis, though I don't have any pictures of it yet.
Jordan White Posted May 7, 2010 Author Posted May 7, 2010 Well after an eternity, I've finally started on the matching F-350 Dually. Here's what it looked like before I disassembled it: Here's the "rolling chassis": Here's the interior, complete with custom B&M Megashifter, 15" subs and chrome amp, and seats and console from the '99 Silverado: Closeup of shifter: And here's the start of the engine/transmission:
Jordan White Posted May 7, 2010 Author Posted May 7, 2010 Yup, certainly does! Course, we need a caller ID box so I can see who's calling... And as for the Chevy seats, I figured they would help give it that luxury conversion truck look.
Nick Winter Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 Well after an eternity, I've finally started on the matching F-350 Dually. Here's what it looked like before I disassembled it: Is that a '60's chevy truck hubcap? tell me I'm not crazy?
Jordan White Posted May 7, 2010 Author Posted May 7, 2010 No you're not crazy Nick! I figured they would look good as centers for my "subs".
Jordan White Posted June 8, 2010 Author Posted June 8, 2010 Might as well bump this thread to the top since I'm finally almost done with the build! I should have pics up by tonight.
crazyjim Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 Nice job, Jordan. I'm not into fishing but your boat sure looks good. The dualie appears to be coming along very well too!
Jordan White Posted June 9, 2010 Author Posted June 9, 2010 Wooh! I'm finally done! Closeup of the hitch and chains: The engine compartment (with custom air cleaner and plug wires): The truck by itself: Filled in the tailgate and rollpan: "Carpet lined" bed with spare and box containing batteries/pumps for suspension: Underside with custom exhaust:
