Like they say, The more ya know, The more ya know! ;););) Thanks!

Sometimes too much information is not good because it includes the good info and the bad info. You have to sort it out.

I always found it much easier to pressure cast my silicone molds rather than vacuum.

I second the motion. I have done it both ways and pressure is way, way better. I didn't understand it but tried it and was codswalloped by the results. That was back in '86 or so. Vacuum sucks.

Awww Heck Georgie, using pressure as Andy says forces tha bubbles outn tha resin...makes 'em smaller and smaller until they disappear.....good luck on your endeavors Georgie,,,, Vacumm is for tha boids,,, just makes tha bubbles bigger as they get going nowhere.....an' besides ain't no water in rubber nor resin...hehehe

I use a pressure pot and tank. I bought the tank from harbour frieght for about $45 shipped on sale. I bought a used belly tank compressor for $50. Then the water trap and gauge and plugs for about another $20 I think. Depending on what product you use will depend upon the time in the pot. There are 3 minute resins and 10 minute resins for example. I like to use the ten minute resins so I have time to pop air bubles with a pin, then place in the pot to get the rest that I can! Now depending upon the mold and the size, the air pressure varies from 35lbs to 45 lbs. I generally leave it on 45lbs for casting though I never got into it big time and now with health issues, I dont expect to or want to. But I have made a couple hundred buckas and done many favors and have only ever received one complaint that I know of. Jody
