Chuck Most Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 (edited) The last few weeks, I have (finally) begun adding pics to my Fotki albums. I used to group all my builds into various categories (Race, Hot Rods, Customs, etc.) But now I'm kind of experimenting with giving each new build it's own album. My question is, which do you prefer when you are looking at someone else's Fotki page? Say, all of the hot rods in one section, with one or two shots of each model? Or each model with it's own folder, perhaps showing some different angles and detail shots, perhaps even some WIP shots, of each individual model? Thanks for your input! crispy Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 As a fotki member I have each build utilizing its own folder. I've thought that once I get enough builds I might group the folders of like makers into separate albums. Not sure yet. As a viewer I enjoy looking at them in their own folder only to view the progress pics as it came along. Clicking on say, an album that says Chevrolet, that breaks down into folders of the cars is what I am looking at, not any time soon though. Chris
Harry P. Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 I agree... give each model its own folder, then maybe group similar builds into a larger folder (hot rods, factory stock, trucks, or whatever).
Chuck Most Posted November 11, 2009 Author Posted November 11, 2009 Thanks guys- sounds like we're leaning toward the 'each build gets its own folder' idea. I'll still use the 'catch all' folders, but I'm trying to give each build it's own folder as things progress along.
DanRaitz Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 I use Photobucket, where I have a folder called "models" and in it there are folders for each individual model. Dan
Chuck Most Posted December 9, 2009 Author Posted December 9, 2009 Well, this post may be a bit self-serving, but feel free to check out how I'm doing so far- just click on the link in my signature! As always, any helpful criticism is gladly welcomed!
crispy Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 Looks good Chuck! Added you to my friends. Chris
Rick Schmidt Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 I prefer to set mine up and view an album where each build has its own folder. I have linked to folders where everything is just dumped in and I leave. I don't even waste my time trying to find Car X in a sea of 500 pics. I learned to do my builds that way too not only does it make it easier to look through, it makes it easy to find and show my Car X because I have it in a folder named Car X

I learned to do my builds that way too not only does it make it easier to look through, it makes it easy to find and show my Car X because I have it in a folder named Car X I thought of doing that as well, but I know I'd start having mono trouble once I had, say, more than ten folders featuring a Revell '32 Ford Five Window. (I have none now, just saying!) That's kind of why I didn't break it down THAT far- once you get to say, the Hot Rod folder, you can just scroll down in numerical/alphabetical order until you see the image of the model you want to see. Then again, maybe I need a separate folder, JUST for '32 Fords? Huh... the mind reels...
Eshaver Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 Chuck , first I don't actually know how to view " Others " folders . Now to Catagorize your cars into the types of builds , that sounds plausable . In fact thats the way a organized person would keep track of a lot of projects . Since I don't have too many pictures in a Photo web page I pretty much know where stuff is . If somebody were to access my Photobucket account , fine . Ed Shaver
