a Hooterville update!

I had to figure out how to fit all the Tamiya plastic engine and rear suspension bits to the large lump of resin that is the chassis. I still had to be able to test fit the large and complicated sub-assembly yet still be able to seperate the assemblies for the final paint job.

I woke up at 3:30 yesterday morning and I had the idea.....

I made a template of the aft bulkhead out of sheet styrene and took it to work with me. I spent an hour and half making a new bulkhead out of aluminum stock. 2 rivets sticking forward through the sheet go into holes in the resin to hold it in alignment. 1 rivet sticks through aft and into the front of the engine. 4 more smaller holes locate the trailing links for the rear suspension. So now I was able to build up the complete rear sub-assembly and mate it to the resin as often as I needed to..

All the primer pieces are resin......
