Michael Madlinger Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 Wow - that looks great. I am looking forward to seeing it completed.

DarylH Posted December 29, 2006 Author Posted December 29, 2006 a Hooterville update! I had to figure out how to fit all the Tamiya plastic engine and rear suspension bits to the large lump of resin that is the chassis. I still had to be able to test fit the large and complicated sub-assembly yet still be able to seperate the assemblies for the final paint job. I woke up at 3:30 yesterday morning and I had the idea..... I made a template of the aft bulkhead out of sheet styrene and took it to work with me. I spent an hour and half making a new bulkhead out of aluminum stock. 2 rivets sticking forward through the sheet go into holes in the resin to hold it in alignment. 1 rivet sticks through aft and into the front of the engine. 4 more smaller holes locate the trailing links for the rear suspension. So now I was able to build up the complete rear sub-assembly and mate it to the resin as often as I needed to.. All the primer pieces are resin...... still need to do the cockpit....then paint, decals and front suspension. Havin' fun in Hooterville!
Steve H. Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 Sounds like an excellent idea. Its important to have positive locaters and the ability to mock it up and tear it down. Nice work so far!
