oldscool Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 Can you remember all of the kits that you got as Christmas gifts over the years? I remember an AMT 53 Ford pickup, an AMT 57 Ford, an AMT Buick Wildcat(don't remember what year) and an original AMT starship Enterprise. oldscool
Custom Hearse Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 I never actually got a kit for Christmas... Just for my birthdays... Now I feel like I've been ripped off somehow...
oldscool Posted December 5, 2009 Author Posted December 5, 2009 I started to include birthdays in my post but decided to keep it to a Christmas theme. oldscool
James Flowers Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 I remember getting the 1/8 scale BIG DEUCE 32 FORD when it first was issued. It looked great in that yellow plastic. Sad thing is I remember my brother getting mad at me and smashing it. I got in trouble for beating Him up. While not models I have received lot of model cases over the years. I prefer to pick out my own models.
JamesW Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 I remember a Testors Lamborghini Countach 25th anniversary edition, AMT Kenworth T600A, and last year the AMT MPC reissue of the 1980 Monte Carlo with Fantasy Chopper.
Kenny Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 About 35 years ago for Christmas I remember getting a Revell Ranchero molded in light blue with a multipiece body, and an AMT F350 pickup.
kingiguana Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 Well, I'm 45 now, but when I was 14/15 my mother went crazy and got me a bunch, some of the ones I remember are, Monogram 66 Malibu ( the red one I think ) AMT 63 Vette, AMT Freightliner COE Coors set with trailer, AMT 57 Chevy, ......and out of the car realm, a submarine. There were a bunch more, but thats too long ago. I remember spending my Christmas vaction slapping them together, only to blow them all up that summer. I wish I had every kit I ever had back, of course I'd need a bigger house to put them in.
envious8420 Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 i remember getting a pair of funny cars in separate boxes. 1 was red or orange and the other was blue. i was like 9 or 10. i seem to remember they were larger than 24th or 25th maybe 20th scale, they had extended 'chutes that were plastic that needed to be strung with the included string/cord. i never saw another one like it. if anyone has a clue which kit/s these were please let me know. i never did fully build either kit, i remember using the chutes for gi joes.
Nick Winter Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 I got my first kits and supply's christmas 5 years ago, I remember exactly (I think) what I got: AMT Dodge D-50 2n1 AMT Daisy's Jeep AMT '65 Mustang ( the one with like 5 sets of wheels) AMT '58 Chevy Impala 3n1 Revell '99 Chevy Silverado Testors paint turn-style (the orange wheel with the paints tube glue and I think 2 or 3 brushes) Haven't gotten a kit since, but money to buy kits, because noone is quite sure what I like best because I build a little of everything.
Brian Fishburn Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 Oh jeez- I've gotten so many I couldn't BEGIN to hope to remember them all. I don't even remember what kiy I got in the club's gift exchange at last year's Christmas party. Wait, I didn't make it last year. See what I mean?
RodneyBad Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 Let me think about that. How many kits have I recieved for Christmas? 0 By the time Christmas comes around, people think I have too many already Nah, Ya can never have too many.. Even doubles are Okay..
randx0 Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 My immediate memory is the peterbuilt tow truck and on a seperate occasion the tennesee thunder hauler I think that is probably how i got most of my truck kits because I was often too impatient to save money to buy the more expensive truck kits . and that just reminded me johan kits were a couple of bucks cheaper than amt ,monogram, mpc and revell.at the time they were 5.00 .
Harold Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 (edited) I remember the AMT '49 Mercury, the Monogram 1/8 scale Corvette, AMT '68 Galaxie, AMT '69 Thunderbird and an MPC '73 Pinto. In '02 I got the '58 Edsel, which is one of the favorites in my collection. I should probably post some pics of it. Edited December 5, 2009 by Harold
