Jon Cole Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 Andrew! This is... amazing stuff! Another "Knock our socks off" type build!
hOLMS Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 Andrew, this is going to be really nice...I've started one of these, your making me want to finish it. Great job so far!
Drago Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 Thread is 2 years old... Now... 3 years old I would love to see more progress here... Please!!!!
GerN Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 Fantastic build! For the retainers on the u-joints, you might try wire from multi-strand electrical wire - its extremely fine.
torinobradley Posted December 24, 2012 Author Posted December 24, 2012 Wow... Saw this topic and thought "Great! Another GS Vette" then saw it was mine and now I'm ashamed because I haven't done much on it. I got bogged down in this one with every detail so I wanted to do another, less detailed project to re-spark my motivation. I started the Penske '66 L88 thinking it would be an easy one and, well, my "high detail-correct everything wrong with the darn kit" personality took over and that one is another stalled high-detail project. Destined to repeat, got my USRRC Cobra started and we'll see where that one goes... Would love to get this one done as I love the subjects, research and doing the details but it's sometimes hard to scrape out hobby time with an involved family life. Either way, thanks for the reminder and encouragement! I'll try to update this a bit more often than every three years. As for the clips, I have some extreemly fine wire but the trick is bending it to the shape. I don't have a die that small and at that size, even needle nose tweezers look grossly mis-aligned and mis-shapen.
Drago Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 (edited) Hi Andrew Just like a prank KKKK ... you got yourself!!! We have almost the same projects, but in opposite ways... I started with the L88 but left it aside and now I'm with GS # 004.. and searching on the internet I founded your topic. By the way... I did the same work you did on the chassi. Well, I would like to take oportunity of the topic and ask for help... 1) Do you have photos of the chassi, body, engine, etc??? I already did some Google searcing and the best I found was this: http://www.racingicons.com/gs/004/004-01.htm and probably you already know it. If so, I can send you my e-mail by PM. 2) I would like to contact Harold at Historic Miniatures to purchase a set of wheels and tires in order to make the correct spare. Could you please send me his email or website? Or would you be interested in selling me a set of one wheel and one tire to replicate the spare? (If there is one more left over, of course) Thanks and congrats for this project.. If I can ask.. please dont stop it!!! Edited January 8, 2013 by Drago
