philo Posted December 25, 2009 Posted December 25, 2009 hello to all I introduce myself, I'm new and I am French. Excuse me for my English, I use a translator to write. My question concerns the painting, I have several models of trucks to build and I would use a paint or metallic paint booths my future models, my question is whether I can use spray paints for automotive body sold at dealers or specialty shops or garages cars ??????? thank you in advance for your help.
Brizio Posted December 25, 2009 Posted December 25, 2009 Welcome! The important is that the paint works on plastic.
MikeMc Posted December 25, 2009 Posted December 25, 2009 You sure can...but use the proper primer, so the body doesn't get eaten

chuckyr Posted December 25, 2009 Posted December 25, 2009 You can use automotive paints on plastic models as so long as you seal the plastic properly. Use a good primer. I myself first use a light coat of Krylon primer. Krylon is an excellent barrier between the plastic and any type of paint. Then I use two light coats of Testors white primer. You can also use a can of flat white paint if that is not readily available. This will be a neutral base color for any other paints you choose to use.
