vizio93 Posted December 30, 2009 Author Posted December 30, 2009 Great start.....lookin good! whats that under the door?? Oh thats part of the frame that I need to trim up . I just wanted to post a quick mock-up before I get into all the details, I'll take care of it when I'm putting the frame together. Or I could even channel the body over it ? mmmmmmmm.......let me see what I can come up with
jeffs396 Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 Cool...Hope you run it with those wheels, they look good with it!
vizio93 Posted December 30, 2009 Author Posted December 30, 2009 Cool...Hope you run it with those wheels, they look good with it! Yeah, I will use these wheels. I got them from an old Chevy SSR diecast I got a long time ago if you were wanting to find some. Thanks man
MikeMc Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 Hey Billy....what motor you planning? You might have a clearance issue with the grill...
vizio93 Posted December 30, 2009 Author Posted December 30, 2009 Hey Billy....what motor you planning? You might have a clearance issue with the grill... Hey Mike, I'm thinkin' about going with the classic flathead. I do have a new 2008 Mustang GT500KR engine laying around, but I'll have to find a super charger for it or a new intake mmmmmmm....... Ideas are just swimming around in my head ( I like it )
fordsixty Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 nice start on your little "mod-rod" there, billy. looks like it will be a lot of fun building. if room is tight for a motor, think about the little 4.5 liter Ford V6 from the ASA Thunderbird. there is a little powerhouse.

Hey Dale, I'll have to see how much room I'll really have in their for an engine. That engine is a defiantly a possibility if I ain't got much room. Thanks man Edited December 30, 2009 by vizio93

I like this idea....it would let you mount the grill anywhere! When I built mine...I stuffed a 421 in it and ended up stretching the frame a tad...
JDS Parts & More Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 very very nice stuff! I am a big fan of pickup truck models of all types and semi's as well. Big kit basher too!!

When I built mine...I stuffed a 421 in it and ended up stretching the frame a tad... Yeah I might have to stretch the frame a little cause my rear-end is a lot closer forward than it was originally, so I will probably have to shorten the drive shaft. Also, the trannys on both of the engines that I'm thinkin' about using, are longer than the stock engine's. I'll also most likely have to make some engine mounts, and headers, and console a for the interior, and a list to put this stuff on so I'll remember it all

whale392 Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 (edited) The best use for the whole SSR right there...the wheels for another kit!! It is looking great, and even with the section of frame under the cab, it still looks good. If you have the GT500KR engine (minus blower) laying around, why not use it with a custom 'Weber-look' modern fuel injection set-up? The GT500 engines 'C' heads feed almost straight-up anyway......perfect excuse for the 'Webers'. Edited December 31, 2009 by whale392
vizio93 Posted December 31, 2009 Author Posted December 31, 2009 Ok so I found the engine from the Mustang and I got the flathead put together partially just to see how it would look. I channeled the body over the frame a little and trimmed it up. Heres the engines (I'm leaning towards the Mustang one ) Heres the body A little mock up Thanks for looking !!!
MikeMc Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 I like that...lift the alternator up ...slide it back a bit, fab up a wild intake up top.........
cobra98 Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 (edited) Looks Great....Really like seeing the different ways this kit is being built. Edited December 31, 2009 by cobra98

Thanks Mike, I still need to fab some engine mounts for it and lift it up some, but she's gettin' there I kind of want a two or three carb set-up like on the flat head, but I dunno yet.
MikeMc Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 If the air inlet is at 12:00 front center then a "fuel"carbon fibre style mounted up front?????
vizio93 Posted January 1, 2010 Author Posted January 1, 2010 Looks Great....Really like seeing the different ways this kit is being built. Thanks man !!! Thats what got me into building one. I saw a couple on here and They looked like fun so I thought why not, I'll try one Thanks
