Hi all, I'm asking if a model car that is entered in the box stock category can be modified in any way using only the parts that are included in the kit by modifying these parts? I would like to eliminate the odd looking bumpers and give the car some smoother looks including side glass that has been rolled down about halfway. Would this fit into the category or be eliminated? There will be no aftermarket or scratch built parts included in this build.

Input... Lyle?

John, I'm assuming you are going into a I P M S contest . With that said , you can only use the parts from the kit , nothing else is alllowed in THEIR CLASSSES ! You are also supposed to provide at least a photocopy of the kit instruction sheet in this class. I hope that suffently answered yer question ............ next ??? Ed Shaver

It's an NNL; I wouldn't sweat it too badly if you do some modifications to the box-stock parts. If it were an IPMS contest, or if it's going to go into a contest (rather than an NNL), then I'd say "no" to your question. NNL's aren't judged by teams of judges, they're voted on popularity by the public. The idea is to have fun...and in that respect, if the build is more fun by doing what you want...then do what you want!

Thanks Bob, You've provided me with some comforting information. I guess I'll have a lot of fun by doing "what I want!".

John,

If you're only concerned about building it for our NNL, we ONLY have a replica stock category, so level of detail wouldn't really matter.

If, however, you are planning to enter it at some time in a judged model car contest, then BOX STOCK can only include whatever parts come in the box, with the addition of Bare Metal Foil and paint.
